Jacksonville’s Most Inspiring Stories

The heart of our mission is to find the amazing souls that breathe life into our communities. In the recent weeks, we’ve had the privilege to connect with some incredible artists, creatives, entrepreneurs and rabble rousers and we can’t begin to express how impressed we are with the incredible group below.

Never giving up. This venture has been a wild ride. We opened in 2013 – same year got married.. we’ve been cruising ever since. We started in Jacksonville for 5 years – sold everything we owned and moved to the USVI in hopes to expand our brand Island side. Unfortunately 3 short months after moving there, category 5 hurricane Irma hit the USVI directly destroying everything in its path which lead us to relocate yet again, back stateside. As soon as we moved back, we found out we were pregnant and reopened Funkadelic 2.0. Read more>>

The consistency that you get from us is what sets us apart from others. We make everything fresh in house daily including hummus, falafel, and our popular spicy jalapeño sauce which goes great with any meal! I’m proud of having a place where people can get an honest meal from honest people. Read more>>

I became an ordained minister while living in New York City around 2015. I had always thought about marrying couples, but I wasn’t sure I had the courage to actually take the step. However, when COVID hit, I found myself reflecting on the idea much more seriously. That’s when a high school friend reached out and asked if I would marry her and her fiancé. Apart from my children and my life partner Dick, it was the greatest gift that changed my life forever. The practice taught me how to connect with my inner resources and a place inside of me that never changes. A nucleus of calm untouched by chaos. So relevant to the world we are currently living in. I perused my 200-hour Kripalu based yoga teacher training in June 2012. I continued my 500-hour Ashtanga teacher training in 2014. My studies continue remotely as I dive deeper into myofascial release with Tiffany Cruikshank. Read more>>

At that point, we were forced out of our rental location due to new ownership and moved entirely into the space we own on Penman Rd. It’s been 6 years now, and things just keep getting better. We have 14 instructors, several styles of classes (including Pole tricks and choreography, heels, bellydance, aerial yoga, roller pole, strength and conditioning, burlesque, etc), an eclectic mix of students, and an amazingly supportive community of bad ass women (with a few great guys sprinkled in). Read more>>

Running a business hasn’t been easy—especially while managing endometriosis, a chronic, invisible illness I’ve lived with since my teens. It’s something I battle daily, even in the treatment room, where I often push through intense fatigue and pain that no one can see. I’m grateful I can set my own schedule and prioritize rest when I need it. It’s not easy, but I refuse to let it define me. With my faith, support from my fiancé, family, and friends, and my passion to help other heal their skin, I keep showing up—for my clients and for myself.  Read more>>
