Meet Amanda Asker of Funkadelic Food Shack

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Asker.

Hi Amanda , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Funkadelic Food Shack was created by expanding the Funkadelic Food TRUCK est, 2013.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
This transition has been relatively smooth. A few growing pains here and there but we’re learning and LOVING IT!
Obstacles such as obtaining our beer and wine license as well as street sign approval presented a challenge however we feel no challenge will overcome us. We’re here to stay and are ready to overcome any hurdles sent our direction!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Family owned and operated. Upscale cuisine at an affordable price. We order fresh seafood daily and support other local small businesses outsourcing our micro greens, coffee, and kitchen product.
Our brand is not just about food, it’s about the entire experience. Customer service is also at the upmost importance.
We also offer catering through our Food Truck Catering Trailer as well as party platters available for pick up or delivery.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
Never giving up. This venture has been a wild ride. We opened in 2013 – same year got married.. we’ve been cruising ever since. We started in Jacksonville for 5 years – sold everything we owned and moved to the USVI in hopes to expand our brand Island side. Unfortunately 3 short months after moving there, category 5 hurricane Irma hit the USVI directly destroying everything in its path which lead us to relocate yet again, back stateside. As soon as we moved back, we found out we were pregnant and reopened Funkadelic 2.0.
Six short years later, we’re here at the FUNK SHACK and couldn’t be more thrilled!!
