Story & Lesson Highlights with Juliann Walsh, A.P., Dipl. O.M. of Telehealth

Juliann Walsh, A.P., Dipl. O.M. shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Juliann, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
love spending time in the garden, fertilizing the fruit trees, trimming back fragrant herbs, gathering sun-warmed tomatoes. There’s something about being under the open sky that grounds me and gently lifts the weight of the day. Sometimes I’ll even pick some fresh herbs from the garden to make tea. That process makes me feel so deeply centered and present, eases any anxieties from the day and allows me to feel grounded.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Juliann Walsh, and I’ve built my work around a deep love of promoting balance and helping others restore their health.

Through Balanced Healing with Juliann (formerly Balanced Healing of Jacksonville) I focus on addressing ailments at the root cause, correcting underlining imbalances in patients who have been sick for sometimes years without answers. Through an extensive initial consultation I’m able to dive deep into areas that may have been missed by other providers, other necessary labs and help facilitate their return to homeostasis.

What makes my approach unique is the way I blend traditional Chinese medicine, holistic medicine and functional medicine principles to create custom individualized protocols tailored specifically for that patient

My journey started in 2009 when I was in my undergrad with the intention of becoming an MD. Through that process I became a certified nursing assistant where I quickly became disillusioned by the medical institution. From there I started to look into alternative medicine modalities and fell in love with Traditional Chinese Medicine. I graduated with a masters in Oriental Medicine and became board certified as a Dipl. of Oriental Medicine and Acupuncture Physician. I then spent the next decade in extensive continued education programs and certifications to broaden my approach to healing. I had a wonderful opportunity to grow my practice, in addition to working part-time at Mayo Clinic, before ultimately transitioning back to the single provider model where I could focus on true individualized care.

Right now, I’m especially excited about launching my upcoming Mold/Mycotoxin Illness Online Course, it’s a project that I’ve been deeply passionate about. Not everyone has the ability to work one on one with a provider, and this course allows individuals impacted by mold to truly get the education and care they need in a self-paced affordable module.

At the heart of everything I do is the belief that healing is possible, and I love that I’m able to facilitate that for so many people.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
The part of me that was always in overdrive, the constant hustle, always go-go-go, has served its purpose but I definitely have transitioned away from that mindset. That relentless energy helped me grow my practice and I’m grateful for what it gave me. But it also came at a cost. Now, I choose to approach my work from a place of balance and intention, trusting that sustainable success doesn’t require burnout. I’m inspired by the incredible wave of women stepping out of hustle culture and into a rhythm that honors both ambition and well-being, and I’m proud to be part of that movement.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Slow down. This moment, this is life. For me, slowing down has come with time and wisdom, and it’s a gift. But we learn as we are ready to, and my younger self wouldn’t understand that slow and steady really is the way. So let her go full-force, she’ll grow and she’ll learn in her own right.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
One of the biggest lies my industry tells itself is that the answer to better health is always in “the next thing”, the newest supplement, the latest biohacking gadget, or the most exotic superfood. These can have their place, but they’re not the foundation. Lasting health begins with the basics: restorative rest, a regulated nervous system, deep and nourishing sleep, genuine laughter with friends, moments of joy, and real, whole foods. The irony is, the most powerful tools for wellness are often the simplest and they’ve been with us all along.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What are you doing today that won’t pay off for 7–10 years?
I lift weights three days a week and run three days a week. It’s not something that gives me instant results, and I’m okay with that because I’m not chasing quick wins. I’m building strength and resilience for my future self. I want to be the mom who can hike the trail, paddle the kayak, or chase after my son without feeling like I’m holding anyone back. I also want to know that one day, should I fall, I can get back up. That kind of resilience doesn’t come from a quick trend or a burst of motivation; it’s built by doing the hard things, day after day, for years. Every workout is an investment in the life I want 10 years from now: active, adventurous, and fully present with my family.
