Story & Lesson Highlights with Jennifer Bosma of Neptune Beach

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Jennifer Bosma. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Jennifer, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
We are blessed to live near the beach. Our day starts with our 15-year-old Labrador Retriever wanting his morning beach walk. We grab a coffee and a bag for our dogs’ necessities, and off we walk to see the ever-changing sea and surf.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Jennifer Bosma is enthusiastic about life and Jesus!
She has authored three award-winning Christian children’s books: God is Three in One, which explains the Trinity to young children in rhyme; I Know the Plans, which shares scriptures and God’s plans for every child; and The Baby Garden, which shares about where babies come from, planned or unplanned, based on Jeremiah 1:5.
Jennifer is the host of the Front Parking Spot podcast, which reaches women worldwide and offers weekly mentoring in Christian principles and encouragement. She retired as an Elementary Education teacher after 23 years and has been known as “Mrs. Bosma” to over 500 students.
She has been married for 36 years and has three grown daughters and three granddaughters.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
I had a life-changing moment when I was 14. My dad took me to a Billy Graham crusade, and my brother and I went forward to accept Jesus as my personal Lord and Savior. This has completely changed me for the better and I’m thankful to have a daily relationship with Jesus in my life.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes, in 1994, I wrote my first children’s book, The Baby Garden. I was pregnant with my second daughter, and I wrote it to explain “where babies come from” to my oldest daughter. This book is based on Jeremiah 1:5, “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you.” I sent my manuscript, old school, by mail to over 75 large publishing houses, and I got a “no thank you” letter in return from all 75 of them. The rejection notes were very nice, but no one wanted to publish my story. I tucked these away because life got busy with two small children.
Every year, the little voice inside, or as I like to call it, the Holy Spirit, kept tugging me to try again to get it published.
Then in 2018, I listened and resubmitted it.

The Baby Garden has been published and is now available in 300 pregnancy centers nationwide. Hopefully, after reading it, a mama will realize that, even if she didn’t plan for her baby, Jesus has had her baby planned since the beginning of time.

So, 26 years later, God’s timing is perfect. This book has been the start of my ministry and the beginning of my writing and Front Parking Spot podcast. I am glad I didn’t give up when the publishers said, No!

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
I am authentic, and I am very happy. I like to see the glass half full and not half empty. I am enthusiastic about life, Jesus and my family!

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel the most peace when I have my quiet and prayer time with Jesus.
