We recently had the chance to connect with Gina Granert and have shared our conversation below.
Gina, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What is a normal day like for you right now?
Work my corporate job
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Gina Granert, founder and owner of First Coast Picnics, a luxury picnic and tablescape design company in Northeast Florida. I create unique, styled experiences—whether it’s an intimate seaside picnic or a chic corporate gathering—where every detail feels intentional and unforgettable. My passion is transforming spaces into beautiful settings that bring people together to celebrate life’s moments in style.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who taught you the most about work?
The person who taught me the most about work was my mom. Growing up, she was always hosting parties at our home and I saw firsthand the joy that thoughtful gatherings could bring. Watching her put so much care into making people feel welcome inspired my own love for creating beautiful, memorable experiences—something that’s now at the heart of First Coast Picnics.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes! There have definitely been moments I’ve thought about giving up. Since most of my events happen on weekends, I miss out on a lot of my own social life and time with family and friends. It can feel like I’m always working when everyone else is relaxing. But what keeps me going is knowing that I get to create those same joyful moments for others. Seeing my clients celebrate, connect and make memories reminds me why I started and makes the sacrifices worthwhile.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What important truth do very few people agree with you on?
An important truth I hold onto is that life is meant to be lived fully. I believe in taking care of yourself, giving yourself permission to slow down, travel and treat yourself to experiences that bring you joy. Money can always be earned again, but the time we have and the memories we create are truly priceless.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Are you tap dancing to work? Have you been that level of excited at any point in your career? If so, please tell us about those days.
Absolutely! There are so many days I feel like I’m practically tap dancing to work. I’m incredibly passionate about running my own small business and setting up luxury picnics, proposals and styled gatherings. Every event feels exciting because I know I’m helping create a moment my clients will never forget. Seeing their faces light up when they walk into a picnic I’ve designed—that’s the kind of joy that makes me want to do a little happy dance right alongside them.
