Today we’d like to introduce you to Yung Drew .
Hi Yung Drew; we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I started making music a few years ago as a joke. Honestly, I jumped on a song with my friend and started to like the sound. I continued to look into making music, so I went into it, learning as much as possible. I started going to this studio in my city and created my song “He Did It,” which has been my number 1 song since. I stay in the word and speak to God before making these decisions; He has been opening doors. Now here I am, thank God for all I’ve done. But it’s not over yet.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I think the hardest thing I would go with was my mind. I told myself that I wasn’t good enough or that my song won’t reach enough people. I’ve had the opportunity to perform in front of many people, and it’s just the beginning. I’ve performed at so many shows that my crowd was my family. But it’s shaped me into the performer I am today; I went through some tough times and doubts, but God showed out.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a Christian hip-hop artist. I make music that people in the world can vibe with, but I’m spreading the message of love and positivity. I’m spreading the love of Jesus; at this time, I’m most known for my song “He Did It” and “Love Like Jesus,” the song Love Like Jesus has been a stamp for me since I started a movement in the city called Love Like Jesus.
In terms of your work and the industry. What are some changes you expect to see over the next five to ten years?
This Christian Hip-Hop scene is doing crazy things. So many festivals are happening and are getting packed out. So many kids are getting saved through this music, especially with how these artists take secular music and make it about Christ. Give the younger generations something positive to rock, not guns, drugs, or women.
