Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Thompson.
Hi Taylor, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Where do I even begin? My love for photography started back in my teenage years. I was always the one behind the camera—whether it was encouraging friends and family to pose or catching those candid, unplanned moments that often ended up being the most meaningful. There was something so special about being able to freeze time, to preserve memories in a way that felt lasting and real. I still remember the excitement of owning my very first digital camera, and the thousands of little moments I captured with it.
Even though photography has always been a passion of mine, I let self-doubt hold me back for far too long. It wasn’t until March of 2023 that I finally made the decision to quiet the fear, take the leap, and invest in my first professional camera. That choice marked the beginning of everything—and I haven’t looked back since.
The truth is, I wouldn’t be where I am today without sheer determination and drive. This past year has been filled with both personal and professional challenges—moments that tested me, stretched me, and at times, nearly broke me. But through it all, I refused to give up. I chose to use every setback as fuel to push harder, grow stronger, and keep chasing this dream with everything I have.
Since then, I’ve had the absolute honor of capturing some of life’s most beautiful milestones—engaged couples, glowing expectant parents, birthday milestones, treasured family time, and even the final photos someone will ever have with a loved one. Every session is a reminder of why I do what I do—because photos matter. They hold feelings, people, stories, and love. It never ceases to amaze me how one image can tell a story, spark a memory, or hold so much emotion.
This journey has brought so much fulfillment. I’m endlessly grateful for every person who has trusted me with their memories, and I carry each story with me. Photography is more than a passion—it’s a purpose. And I’m just getting started.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No path in life is without its challenges. Every endeavor requires time, dedication, patience, and a deep willingness to grow. My journey as a photographer has been no exception—every step along the way has been a learning experience, and I’ve remained committed to evolving, adapting, and showing up with heart and purpose.
One of the earliest challenges I encountered was simply getting my name out there. As a new photographer stepping into a saturated industry, carving out space and building recognition felt daunting. With so many talented creatives already established, it was easy to feel overshadowed. Building a consistent client base came with its own set of hurdles—many people already had a trusted photographer, and earning that same trust as a newcomer required not only patience but relentless persistence.
Perhaps one of the most difficult setbacks I’ve faced came when my original social media account was compromised and ultimately lost. In a world where visibility is everything, losing that platform was incredibly disheartening. But in hindsight, it became a turning point. Instead of letting it defeat me, I used it as an opportunity to rebuild from the ground up—with a renewed sense of purpose and clarity. I took that moment to rebrand my business entirely, refining not just my visual identity but my client experience, my messaging, and my goals for the future.
Since then, I’ve rebuilt stronger than ever. Through resilience, dedication, and the unwavering support of my incredible clients—both loyal returners and new faces—I’ve not only reclaimed my space in this industry, but redefined it on my own terms.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a lifestyle photographer with a deep passion for capturing life’s sweetest, most meaningful moments. I specialize in family, maternity, couples, weddings, milestone celebrations, and branding sessions—each one approached with intention, heart, and an eye for storytelling. I work primarily with natural light, using its soft, authentic glow to highlight genuine connection and emotion.
I’m known for creating a relaxed and welcoming experience, guiding my clients with care while allowing space for organic moments to unfold. Whether it’s a playful family session or an intimate elopement, I focus on capturing connection in its truest form. Many of my clients say they feel instantly at ease in front of my camera, and that’s something I take great pride in.
What I’m most proud of is the growth I’ve experienced since stepping into the photography world—both creatively and professionally. From the early days of navigating the unknown, to overcoming challenges that tested my resilience, every experience has shaped the artist and businesswoman I am today. Each session is more than just a job to me—it’s a reflection of my dedication to this craft and the trust my clients place in me to capture what matters most.
What sets me apart is the experience I create from start to finish. From guiding wardrobe choices and offering access to my client closet, to fostering a comfortable, laid-back environment during our sessions, I aim to make every moment feel effortless and authentic. I’m deeply invested in the people I photograph, and I strive to tell their stories in a way that feels personal, timeless, and true to who they are.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
This is a tough one for me, as I hold so many childhood memories close to my heart. But if I had to choose, some of my absolute favorites are the moments spent in the kitchen during the holidays—baking Christmas treats with my Gram and siblings. The kitchen was always filled with the scent of sugar and spice, the sound of laughter, and the warmth that only comes from being surrounded by the people you love most. Those simple moments—covered in flour, sneaking tastes of cookie dough, and dancing to holiday music—quickly became traditions I looked forward to every single year.
Now that my Gram is no longer here, those memories have taken on an even deeper meaning. They serve as a reminder of the love she poured into our lives and the importance of creating intentional time with family. One day, I hope to share those same traditions and stories with my future children—passing down not just the recipes, but the feeling of joy, togetherness, and love that filled those holiday moments.
