Today we’d like to introduce you to SHONTAE JACKSON.
Hi SHONTAE, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
After experiencing an extreme mental breakdown, dealing with addictions, suicidal ideation, and homelessness when I sought out help I could not find a program or community that aligned with my needs, so I created Subliminal Dreamz Inc a safe space for me to heal and for my community!
Subliminal Dreamz Inc is on a mission! To eradicate and dismantle any barriers standing in the way of how minors and families receive mental health care. We have been advocating in low income communities for better mental healthcare, services, diagnoses, as well as before, during, and after school programs for youths and minors that lives in areas experiencing different forms of trauma, weather it is violence, food insecurities, homelessness, or other mental or emotional disabilities that keeps individuals from thriving in their environments since 2021. Subliminal Dreamz mission is to provide affordable and attainable mental health resources to our communities Shontae and her organization has not missed a beat when it comes to showing up in the community and supporting other organizations whose mission and values align.
We all came from somewhere to get where we are destined to be.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
As a self taught entrepreneur there has been many challenges both personal and professional. The biggest obstacle was first designing my business model, as there are so many brands I wanted to ensure Subliminal Dreamz Inc stood out in every way, from the name to the logo to slogan, I wanted to stand out in a ways that make the mind think, which we all do in subliminal ways. Funding will always be any entrepreneur struggle, as some of us start our journey with financial resources while others such as myself grow into theirs, so our risks look and hit differently. The other challenge I believe I faced was establishing a network of reliable contacts, connections and partnerships. We often find ourselves believing that some people and or brands have genuine intentions when they say they want to work and or partner with our brands until true motives and intentions are revealed, trust is difficult when branding and growing.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

That is what we are known for. Bringing awareness to mental health in ways that not only get others active, but challenges communities as a whole to take accountability for the changes they want to see. There is so much to be proud of, just being a black owned self taught entrepreneur who has made it for 3 years, won countless community awards, hosted over 50 community events, given back thousands of dollars to families and communities, leverage some of the best partnerships and even won our first grant from the city; nothing makes me more proud of the people we have led to therapy, the lives we have changed. Our whole mission is to help others find ways of healing from their traumas.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
We are on all social medial platforms, and of course the best way to collaborate is to visit our website or connect with us in the community, we do not just host our own events, we collaborate with other brands and support other community events and initiatives.
