Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebecca Bwete.
Rebecca, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Photography has been part of my life for over a decade, but my business truly found its purpose after becoming a mom. I began photographing portraits and weddings in 2015, but once I welcomed my first baby, I realized just how quickly the little moments disappear. That experience completely changed the way I viewed photos.
Today, I specialize in newborn, maternity, and family photography for families throughout Jacksonville and Northeast Florida. My goal has never been to simply take beautiful pictures, it’s to create artwork that tells a family’s story and preserves the season they’re in. I want parents to have tangible heirlooms they can hold onto long after their babies have grown.
Over the years, my business has evolved into a full-service experience, guiding families from curating their wardrobe, to planning their session, to designing custom artwork for their homes. I believe photography should feel relaxed, meaningful, and stress-free, allowing genuine connection to shine through.
Looking back, I’m grateful for every step of the journey. What started as a creative passion has become the privilege of documenting some of the most meaningful milestones in my clients’ lives, and I truly can’t imagine doing anything else.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I believe anything worth doing is going to be hard. There have been seasons where my calendar was completely full and others where it felt much quieter than I expected. Learning that running a business requires so much more than being good at photography was one of the biggest challenges. Marketing, SEO, finances, client communication, and constantly adapting to changes have all come with a steep learning curve.
Becoming a mom also shifted my priorities. I had to learn how to build a business that allowed me to serve my clients well while still being present for my own family. Finding that balance hasn’t always been easy, but it’s been one of the most rewarding parts of the journey.
Every challenge has pushed me to grow. And not just as a photographer, but as a mom. Looking back, I’m thankful for those difficult seasons because they’ve helped shape the experience I provide today and providing valuable encouragement to my families that stretches beyond just photographs.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in newborn, maternity, and family photography for families throughout Jacksonville, St Augusting, and Northeast Florida. My style is natural, timeless, and connection-focused, with an emphasis on creating images that feel just as meaningful decades from now as they do today. Rather than chasing trends, I focus on genuine emotion. The tiny details of a newborn, the anticipation of pregnancy, and the genuine interactions & connection that make every family unique.
One thing that sets my business apart is that I offer a full-service experience. From helping families plan their session to designing custom heirloom artwork for their homes, I guide my clients through every step of the process. I want the experience to feel effortless so parents can simply enjoy this season with their family while I preserve it for them.
I’m also passionate about incorporating film photography into my work. There’s something incredibly special about the depth, softness, and authenticity that film brings, creating images that feel nostalgic from the moment they’re developed. Blending both digital and film allows me to create galleries that are both refined and deeply personal.
What I’m most proud of isn’t a specific award or milestone. It’s actually the trust families place in me. Being invited back to document growing families year after year, from maternity to newborn sessions and beyond, is the greatest compliment I could receive. Knowing that the photographs I create will become part of a family’s history and be passed down for generations is what inspires me every time I pick up my camera.
How do you think about luck?
I’m not someone that believes in luck. I truly believe God has been faithful through every season of my life and business, even when I couldn’t see what He was doing. Everything is can be an opprtunity to learn & grow.
There have certainly been moments that felt discouraging: slower seasons, plans that didn’t work out, and opportunities I thought I had missed. At the time, those experiences felt like setbacks. Looking back, though, many of them became the very things God used to redirect me, strengthen my faith, and shape the business I have today.
I’ve also experienced incredible blessings that I know I didn’t earn on my own. Every family who trusts me to document such meaningful moments, every referral, and every opportunity to serve others is something I don’t take for granted. I see those as gifts from God and reminders of His provision.
Owning a business has taught me to hold my plans with open hands. I work hard and do my best to serve my clients with excellence, but ultimately I trust that God is in control of the outcome. That perspective has given me a lot of peace and purpose, even in seasons of uncertainty.
