Hi Marshee’, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started off as a full time call center representative. I was miserable. The work day was repetitive and stressful. I always meant for more fulfilling work. I’ve always took joy in all things beauty. Teaching my friend hair hacks in middle school. Getting creative with make up making my own eyeshadows before i even thought about operating a business. The pandemic came around and my department was pushed to work from home, tik tok has became popular and i dived in deep. I started by selling strip lashes and was intrigued about how successful i was. It felt free creating my own stream of income. I loved lashes and became intrigued with lash extensions. I practiced awhile on my own and then took a class and five years later I’m still here. My hobby turn career freed me from my 9-5.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No it has not been a smooth road at all. Full of bumps along the way. The hardest challenge was pushing past my introverted reserved self. Pushing past the self doubt and the feeling of not being enough in this industry. Comparison almost took my away from my passion. There was a period of time i lost my spark and passion. Then i unexpectedly became an adoptive parent. Juggling newfound parenthood, and the shifting lash industry i found myself hating what i once loved. The clients I’ve retained along the way. & their continued support and belief in me made me fight harder to prove them right. I stopped focusing on what others did well and zeroed in on what i did well and I’m happy to say eventually dug up the zeal and passion I’ve had all along.

I am a Lash Technician. I specialize in tailoring individual lash extensions to my client’s natural eye and enhancing the beauty that already have. I am most know for my volume lash sets. I am most proud of creating a lane for myself that has been sustaining me for 5 years. I am set apart from others because i truly for a connection with every client i take and I make sure i am adding to them instead of just lashing them.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
When finding a mentor my advice would be to take the time to truly vet the person and to then take the risk and reach out. If you truly want something you have to go for it. You have to have a go getter mentality and be willing to put in the effort to make your dream reality.
