Rising Stars: Meet Marina Kovalchuk

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marina Kovalchuk.

Marina, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Art is in my blood. My grandfather draw beautiful masterpieces, and my father had workshops and work with clay. Nobody thought me to draw and work with colors, I had been doing this since childhood.

I began as an artist in Ukraine, work with galleries, made my own exhibitions, and organized workshops, and masterclasses. Some time ago, I decided to change my life and get new challenges, and now I’m in the USA.

I see a huge possibility here for an artist, and I’m impressed with Florida’s nature and wildlife. Flora and fauna are the most used characters in my art. The colors and diversity are magnificent!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Going along this road brings some challenges: You should know your customer, you should be prepared for a great competition, and you should find your niche and be the best in it.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
The sense of my art is to show how my inner experiences and emotions can find visual expression in the plants and animals in my artworks. The main importance for me is when the viewer gets a wave of emotions watching my art pieces.

I feel my self comfortable working with watercolor and oil painting. I prefer natural and classical mediums.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Most people who know me don’t know that I don’t use a pure black color in my artworks. I’m getting black by mixing different colors.
