Rising Stars: Meet Lee Vaccaro of Downtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lee Vaccaro.

Hi Lee, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Our journey began in 1904 on Bay street. We have done repairs and shines for most every Mayor and Sheriff as well as other notable personalities including John Travolta and Rhianna. In the past 121 years we have moved 5 times but have always remained in the core of downtown. We are now in our 4th generation of family cobbler. We do extensive repairs on shoes, boots, belts, handbags, wallets, saddles, luggage, and much much more. We do the repair work for the mounted unit and motorman units for JSO as well as FHP CCSO and SJCSO.
In 2009 We opened our second location in Orange Park on wells road.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Most our road has been smooth, as people always needed shoes. The one exception to this was covid. When people were staying home and working remotely, they were hardly wearing pants, let alone shoes. The move to remote work was a struggle for several years and many in our industry were forced to close.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We specialize in repairs and alterations to many high end items, such as Luis Vuitton, Gucci, Prada, Christian LouBoutin and many more .

We are also proud to be the authorized repair centers for many footwear and luggage manufacturers such as Birkenstock, Samsonite, travel Pro, Victorinox, Brigs & Riley and many others.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
We can be found on facebook, tik-tock, instagtram and are in the process of setting up a you tube channel.
