Today we’d like to introduce you to LaToria Burnett.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I have always loved everything natural, and have been making haircare and skincare products for my family for a while. So I decided to turn a hobby into a business. I created my own website and soon as it went live I received over 10 orders the first day, and my business is still doing great! I truly believe my products speak for themselves and my customers are Amazing!!!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I am a military wife and a mother of four, it’s nothing easy about that. I find it very challenging trying to run a business full time and still make time for my family and myself.
I have three girls, twins who are seven and six years old, then I have a little boy who is one, and he’s at home with me all day, so it is definitely a struggle trying to make products, package them, promote them on social media and take them to the post office all while trying to keep my son entertained.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I was originally going to school for nursing, but it was extremely hard to juggle with my family, and honestly, I wasn’t really happy, so I decided to take a leap of faith. It took me a couple of months but I created my own website, which I am extremely proud of. I handmake All Natural soaps, body butter, sugar scrubs, and oils.
All of my products are nontoxic and only made with the purest ingredients. I am known for my great products, extremely fast shipping, and excellent customer service. I strive to make all my customers feel special. I believe what sets me apart from others is the fact that I care so much!!! I never started my business to be famous or get rich, I just want to change people’s lives, making them feel more confident in their skin but doing it in a healthy way.
I do giveaways all the time, I also send people who share my business on social media products for free. I know as a business I shouldn’t give away products, but I just want to show my supporters that I truly care and appreciate them. I have many customers who reach out to me past my business hours with questions, and I still answer their questions, I try to make myself available whenever a customer needs me. Also if I tell a customer that I will get back to them with an answer, I make sure I always do!!!
Any big plans?
My plans for the future are to travel and do popup shops and flea markets and eventually get my own storefront. I am looking forward to continuing to step out of my comfort zone.
