Rising Stars: Meet Jeremy Bacon of Oakleaf

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeremy Bacon.

Hi Jeremy, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m a US Navy Veteran, and have been trying to turn my love of photography into a side business. I have been a photographer for quite a while. From traveling the world shooting wonders seen, teaching photography basics for a non profit, to now tackling it from a business standpoint I have had a wide range of experiences.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Like with most things, if it was easy it would not be worth doing. For the most part the normal struggles for a small business. Equipment and travel costs, insurance costs, taxes, etc….
The newest and possibly biggest struggle that has popped up is A.I.. As A.I. spreads, it will have a huge impact on most non-event related photography.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I love anything with light and motion, I have been photographing Cirques for the last 10 years for the shear love of it. The shots I get of aerial performers are some of my favorite shots. Lately I have been building physical scenes for product photos, creating practical effects is so much more satisfying than doing it digitally.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
For me, customer satisfaction matters most. I have spent, honestly, way too many hours trying to get a photo perfect for a client. If my name is attached to it, I want the photo to be as perfect as possible.
