Today we’d like to introduce you to Greg Johnston.
Hi Greg, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Primarily a content creator, the Florida based shooter is currently in Bali, Indonesia photographing ocean landscapes, marine life and travel for a variety of advertising, tourism and editorial clients.
His images have graced the pages of major travel publications, from advertising to editorial, and stock photography. Specializing in hotel, hospitality and lifestyle and former contributing editor to Caribbean Travel & life Magazine and Islands Magazine.
Greg’s photography today is focused on fine art ocean landscapes.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I have had a long very successful career as a photographer in advertising, marketing and print. The obstacles and challenges has been social media becoming main stream. Travel magazines went away, video production and stock photography using iPhones apps became popular. But never giving up I learned to accept AI as a craft to know. Now having fun with being creative all over again.

My work has changed much over the years, always creating tropical themes about the ocean. I spent many years in the scuba diving industry as an underwater photographer. Traveling to many Caribbean islands I began photographing the culture and colorful lifestyle.. This work opened doors to fashion, tourism, resorts and hotels.. Today my work is global travel creating fine art gallery images of ocean landscapes.
What were you like growing up?
I grew up in the Great Lakes region always fascinated with water. As a teenager I became a certified diver and moved to Florida. Always looking through bookstores and magazine racks, I picked up a a camera one day and never put it down. I knew it was a gift to me and an instrument to take me around the world.
