Rising Stars: Meet Brad Wells of Jacksonville, FL

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brad Wells.

Hi Brad, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
At 14, I picked up my mom’s acoustic guitar and taught myself by ear how to play.

The minute I started to figure out chords I began writing songs.

I had a rock band in high school and did some solo coffee house gigs.

Music took a backseat at I started a 16 career as a radio personality and station manager.

In 2009 I started to put focus back on music and began to play every venue I could find around Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas and Texas.

I recorded and released the album “Stories of My Life” in 2010.

Moves to Hilton Head, SC, Salt Lake City, UT and Northeast Florida had me hustling to make a name for myself and find gigs.

I’ve been a full time musician since 2016 and play over 150 shows around Florida, Georgia and into South Carolina.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The music industry is never smooth.

Getting booked is and has always been the toughest part of this industry. Venues come and go, people come and go.

Due to the vigorous schedule I’ve maintained for nearly two decades, I was sidelined with carpal tunnel and tennis elbow surgery in late 2023.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I primarily perform solo acoustic shows at popular restaurants and bars.

I mix my original music in with over 250 cover songs spanning many decades and genres.

I specialize in playing requests and interacting with the audience.

Most shows have a lot of comedy elements in addition to live music.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
Nearly every fellow musician I’ve met along the way has helped me in some way.

Sharing contact information, sharing gear, collaborating together and just being available to discuss the music scene.

I’ve had SO many great clients over the years. Especially ones that give you a performance share every week.
