Today we’d like to introduce you to Audrey Prim.
Hi Audrey, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My Mom created a village of support for both my sister and I. When she had to work and couldn’t be present to physically support us, we could always look out into the crowd and see someone we knew, who cared. I’ve wanted to create that same sense of community in everything I do. From my professional career, to my creative projects beyond the 9-5, even with my friendships and romantic life. I want to be a substantial part of the village that allows someone to feel seen, heard, and understood.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
If the road were smooth, I purposely wouldn’t go it lol. I don’ know, I have this innate thing where if its not a challenge, it probably isn’t worth it. Thankfully, I’ve grown to only apply that to areas of life where it truly matters.
My original game plan was to become a lawyer/political speech writer, but my love for volunteerism and community engagement led me to the non-profit sector. And for those confused on the term, it simply means a large portion of funds go back into operations, not that the organization isn’t receiving funding.
This industry not only allowed me to step into different pathways of community advocacy, but it allowed me to work closely with the people and become a part of others’ villages…for however long it lasted. And while it is wonderful to have impact, it doesn’t always pay well. So, its been a uphill trek to make it to a place where the hardwork is paying off. That and longevity, grant funding programs don’t always have the best shelf life. So one must be willing to stay alert of what’s next.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a Non-Profit Professional who enjoys community outreach, workforce development, professional coaching, positive youth development, and partnership building.
Best known for my enthusiasm and expertise with bridging resources and people. I love showing others how no matter where you are within your career, you can have impact within the community in a way that doesn’t require you to develop a skill you don’t already possess. You’re sitting on a talent that someone needs!
I am most proud of my ability to still be passionate about what I do. I am so looking forward to stepping into philanthropy, as I want to be integral in shaping programs that help youth and senior citizens thrive. So the non-profit sector for me, will soon come to an end. Its no secret, businesses who are in the business to make money, pay more, so it’s time to elevate my impact in a new way.
I’m not aware what sets me a part. I just know how important it is to me to ensure I do what I can, with what I am fortunate to have, to make an impact someone else can stand on to gain access for what they need.
