Meet Sarah Kersey

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Kersey.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
The closet has been a highlight of downtown saint Augustine for 15 years now. Growing up in high school, I would sell clothes I made here. It was also a spot for local artists to sell their clothing.

Three years ago, I was given the opportunity to buy the closet and it needed a slight facelift. So I put my spin on it. Now, we have a vintage boutique with a western flair to it.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Buying a business and rebranding about 6 months before the Covid hit was very challenging. In the boutique world, it’s not always as friendly for advice along the way.

It’s been a process to find out what works and what doesn’t. What to pay for/ buy and invest in. I’ve lost friendships and hilt new ones. I’ve also learned to keep my circle small.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I have always loved fashion. I’ve been piecing together bold outfits since I was little. Most people when they see an item have trouble piecing it together.

When I see a top or skirt, I think of ten different ways to style it. That’s why I love when customs coke to me for concert looks or special event outfits.

Dressing them and giving them the confidence to wear a cute outfit reminds me of why I do what I do.

What matters most to you?
My customers and keeping to my brand values. Sometimes it’s hard to cancel out the outside noise for instance the rude comments. But then I have customers who come in and make my day and remind me.
