Meet Ry Rivers of Florida

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ry Rivers.

Hi Ry, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was raised between South Florida and Central Florida, and I truly believe that growing up in such a diverse environment has shaped who I am, both as a person and as an artist. I come from a non-musical family, so I had to discover my own path into music. But even from my earliest memories, I knew music hit me differently, it was always what brought me the most joy.

My early years were spent in Pompano Beach, a small coastal town full of old Florida charm and a laid-back, beachy lifestyle. Being near the water and surrounded by a melting pot of cultures fostered a deep love for life and exploration. When my parents separated around the age of 12, I began splitting time between Pompano Beach and Okeechobee, a rural part of Central Florida.

My dad’s place was a small farm where life revolved around animals, ATVs, and dirt roads. He introduced me to country music—classic and ’90s hits, as well as rock legends like The Eagles and Skynyrd. My mom, on the other hand, brought soul, R&B, jazz, and more into my world. These dual influences, from the storytelling of country to the grooves of soul and the timeless energy of rock, have defined my sound. I call it blue-eyed country soul.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but I’m grateful for every part of the journey.

One of the most impactful events was my parents’ separation. Their relationship was far from healthy, and it shaped my early views on love and partnership in a way I’m still working through today. I often found myself jealous of friends who had seemingly stable home lives. That longing and confusion made its way into my storytelling and perspective, teaching me how to find beauty in complicated emotions.

Another defining chapter was growing up closeted and eventually coming out. For a long time, I struggled with self-acceptance. Finding my voice—not just musically, but personally, was a journey. Music became my safe space before I was ready to be fully honest in other areas of life. It gave me the language to process emotions I didn’t yet know how to express. Coming out was a turning point, it cemented my commitment to living truthfully, which is at the heart of everything I create today.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a singer, songwriter, and performer. I’d say what sets me apart is my ability to tell stories with emotional depth and honesty. In a time when so much around us can feel filtered or curated, I lead with authenticity in both my music and my life. I believe people are craving realness, especially in music–artists who are raw, truthful, and who have truly put in the work to master their voice and craft. I strive to be one of those artists.

One of my biggest successes to date has been building a team and presence in Nashville, even without any personal connections to the city. Just a year ago, having a manager and pursuing my career at this level felt like a distant dream. Now I’ve made my CMA Fest debut, I’ve performed at the BMI Songwriters Festival in Key West, and I’ll be headlining my first festival in Wyoming this August.

But even beyond those milestones, I think what I’m most proud of is the deeper work: discovering who I am as an artist and honing my sound. That clarity has given me the foundation to grow and create music that truly represents me.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
First and foremost, my mom. She has always been my number one supporter and cheerleader. I wouldn’t be where I am without her unwavering belief in me.

Next would be my vocal coach and my manager, two individuals who’ve changed my life and career in ways I used to only dream about. They’ve not only helped shape me as an artist but also as a human. Their support, honesty, and guidance have been invaluable, and I’m deeply grateful for them both.
