Today we’d like to introduce you to Nolan Brown.
Hi Nolan, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started opening fast casual hibachi restaurants for Terry Ho the Yum Yum sauce guy he is from Albany, GA where I am from. I learned how to cook hibachi and the business at his stores in Pensacola and Mobile. I took a corporate job in Atlanta, met my wife and moved to St. Mary’s where she is from. We would have backyard hibachi parties at our house for fun (and to keep my skills sharp) and word got out and someone requested my services and from there a business was born. We do anywhere from 25-50 hibachi parties a month right now.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
We have grown slow and steady which I think was huge and didint overwhelm me or my young family. This is still a second “fun” job for me so I wanted growth to be organic. Lots of referrals and when business would get busy I would find other chefs in the area that I could train and were reliable and energetic that has been a challenge to find the right fits.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We are a in home hibachi party and catering company. We bring the fun and everything needed for a fun at home hibachi dining experience. Our chefs are interactive and attentive. The food is fresh and prepared right in front of you. We specialize in birthdays, anniversaries, corporate events and any excuse to gather some friends for good food and a good time.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I’ve got 3 small kids at home and I love to cook everything not just hibachi. A lot of times you can find us in our outdoor kitchen, we call it the “Shrimp Shack” experimenting and trying out new recipes.
