Today we’d like to introduce you to Micki Woodford.
Hi Micki , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I have always enjoyed sports and being active. Played sports in HS and College and have been competing in races since I was twenty with well over 100 events completed such as Triathlons, Adventure Races, a marathon and countless obstacle course races and running events. I decided to get my Yoga cert about 9 years ago and fell in love with teaching fitness. This led to Group Fitness certification, Personal Training, Stand up Paddle Board certified, TRX and more. I started my own business about 4 years ago and have continued to grow and expand.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Over the past four years I have worked on and recently completed my master’s in Exercise Science. At the same time I have been homeschooling my daughter, teaching PE to home schoolers and running my small business, MASE Fitness. I recently completed my first book which is a Biblically based Wellness Devotional and Fitness Journal. So keeping my head above water and delivering high quality personal training services has been difficult at times. My long prayer walks each morning help keep me grounded.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about MASE Fitness ?
Small Group Personal Training is what I love promoting because it’s affordable personal training for all levels of fitness and perfect for every budget! Share the Trainer is an amazing way to get the motivation and accountability that is often missed at big gyms. In addition the class sizes are 6 people or less so the instructor is focused on each person’s form, safety, and challenging each person to progress each week. I also offer One-on-one Personal Training and Assisted Stretches.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I want everyone in my PT sessions and fitness classes to feel like they are the only one! So I follow up to see how they feel post workout, let them know we miss them when they aren’t in class, and offer modifications and alternative exercises when they need it. Those extra touches are not offered many places. I love giving my clients swag, holding challenges and contests, and encouraging each one to find something they love that keeps them moving!
