Meet Michael And Catherine Woodcock of Jacksonville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael And Catherine Woodcock.

Hi Michael and Catherine, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Woodcock Homes is a home rehabilitation and design firm founded by siblings Michael and Catherine Woodcock. We focus on blending luxury and charm, and specialize in revitalizing homes through elegant, high-quality design and construction. We started Woodcock Homes during the pandemic with what was originally a passion project — something we’d always talked about doing together. That first home was meant to be a one-time renovation to tick off of our shared bucket list. But we quickly realized how much we loved the process and how naturally our strengths worked together. One project led to another, and before long, we decided to turn it into a full-time business.

Michael is a seasoned interior designer and licensed general contractor with over 13 years of experience in the industry. He brings a refined vision shaped by his work in Los Angeles and New York. His dual expertise ensures streamlined, functional, and beautifully executed renovations. Catherine transitioned from a career as a big law attorney in Washington, D.C. to lead operations. She does so with sharp project management, investment insight, and a passion for real estate and interior design.

We are both drawn to renovations because they require vision and imagination, perseverance, and a willingness to see potential where others might not. For us, it’s about breathing new life into homes that might otherwise be overlooked — or torn down — and creating something lasting and meaningful in their place. It’s not always easy work, but we find it to be deeply rewarding. And we’re still just as excited to see a project come together today as we were with our very first house.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Like any entrepreneurial journey, our path has come with its share of challenges, but we’ve done our best to face them head-on. The real estate market has been unpredictable, finding reliable vendors can be difficult, and navigating tariffs and material costs has presented real challenges. But we’ve stayed resilient — adapting quickly, building strong relationships, and being creative to deliver excellent results no matter the circumstances.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
We specialize in thoughtful, design-forward renovations that blend timeless character with an elevated style. What we think sets us apart from typical flippers is our design sensibility — every detail is intentional, and our spaces are meant to feel curated and charming, not cookie-cutter or trend-driven. We work to create homes that people connect with emotionally, not just functionally.

We’ve built a small but loyal following of clients, peers, and design enthusiasts who are excited to see what we take on next. That sense of trust and anticipation is something we’re really proud of, and it motivates us to keep raising the bar with each project.

We also grew up in Jacksonville, and still live and work in the neighborhoods where we renovate. That connection means a lot to us. It also means we often drive by our finished houses. A feeling that is never lost on us is seeing the lights on, cars in the driveway, and knowing our project is now a place someone calls home. The kitchens we obsessed over are where meals are being shared, the yards we landscaped are now playgrounds, and life is unfolding in the rooms we built. That feeling — of having a hand in making a space livable and loved — never gets old.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Absolutely. This has never been a solo effort. We’re incredibly lucky to have had support from the very beginning. Our parents believed in us from day one — they’ve not only encouraged us but have literally rolled up their sleeves and gotten their hands dirty on job sites. We truly wouldn’t be where we are without them.

Our friends have been constant cheerleaders, rooting for us through every high and low, and celebrating every win like it was their own. We’ve also built an incredible network of subcontractors and vendors over the years who show up with skill, dedication, and so much heart. They care about the work as much as we do, and we’re grateful to be in the trenches with such a solid team.

We’ve been lucky, too, to work with amazing clients who trust us with their homes — it’s never something we take for granted. And along the way, countless people in the industry have generously shared their insight and guidance, which helped us find our footing early on. It takes a village to successfully run a small business, and we’re deeply thankful for everyone who’s been part of the journey.
