Meet Keturah Teasley of Gainesville, FL

Today we’d like to introduce you to Keturah Teasley.

Keturah, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I spent over a decade teaching academically in K-12 and adult education settings. As a creative, I could be found supplementing class work with cooking activities that curbed negative behaviors and brought students together in a fun manner. Today, as a Doctoral Student and Prevention Educator, I enjoy implementing programs that support the well-being of children and families in Florida and beyond.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely has not! Finding my “unique” path has been a journey. Not ignoring my voice and creativity has taken a vast amount of courage even at the expense of leaving behind what appeared to be more stable – career-wise.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Helping people learn in “outside the box” methods has been quite useful and impactful. I’ve helped those with learning disabilities and behavior challenges excel and tap into learning opportunities that honed in to how they were most intelligent.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Attunement most definitely. The changing dynamics of our world, technology, and human interaction have required me to “pay attention” to how to support the next generation.

Starting Naomi’s Girls (www.NaomisGirls.com) not only provides a setting for middle and high school students to engage in fun cooking activities but encourages healthy communication, collaboration, and conflict resolution.
