Today we’d like to introduce you to Kesha Clark
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My journey into esthetics was born out of my own struggles with my skin. For years, I struggled with acne and hyperpigmentation that left me feeling self-conscious and frustrated. I tried countless products, went through numerous treatments, and even spent time visiting dermatologists, but nothing seemed to work long-term. I knew there had to be a better way to address these issues, and my own experience sparked a deep curiosity about skincare.
Before enrolling in esthetician school, I was always longing for something that would allow me to combine my interests in self-care and beauty. It wasn’t until I started learning more about skincare—through research, books, and online communities—that I realized my calling was in esthetics. I wanted to help others who were struggling with similar skin issues. I wanted to dive deeper into the science behind skincare to understand how I could make a real difference in the field of aesthetics.
Despite my corporate background, I took a leap of faith and decided to enroll in esthetician school. It was during the COVID-19 pandemic and I felt uncertain at first. Once I enrolled I started to immerse myself into skincare. I learned about different skin types, treatments, and how to address specific concerns like acne, pigmentation, and scarring—issues I was personally familiar with. I became particularly passionate about corrective skincare and the importance of tailoring treatments to each client’s unique needs, especially for individuals with multicultural skin.
After completing my education, I transitioned into becoming a solo esthetician, initially offering services focused on acne treatment, anti-aging and hyperpigmentation correction. The journey wasn’t easy—starting from scratch, building a client base, and gaining trust took time. But as I saw the impact my work had on clients—many of whom had struggled with similar skin concerns—I knew I made the right decision.
Today, I specialize in corrective skincare and work primarily with clients dealing with acne and pigmentation issues. I’m proud to offer treatments that address the root causes of skin concerns and give people the tools and knowledge to take control of their skin’s health. The path hasn’t been smooth, but overcoming my own skin struggles has made me a better esthetician and a more empathetic practitioner. I’m proud of the work I do now and grateful that I made the leap into a career I’m truly passionate about.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
As a solo-esthetician, the road hasn’t always been smooth. While I’ve had the privilege of helping people feel better about themselves, there have been challenges along the way. One major struggle was building a client base when I first started. It takes time to earn trust and establish a reputation, especially in a field where people have so many options for skincare.
The industry itself also changes constantly, from new skincare trends to evolving regulations. Keeping up with certifications, learning about new products and techniques, and staying up-to-date with industry standards. But the rewards, like helping clients feel rejuvenated or confident in their skin, definitely make it worthwhile. These challenges have taught me something valuable, and over time, I’ve developed better ways to handle the challenges.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
KClark Skin specializes in corrective skincare with a focus on multicultural skin. I specialize in corrective treatments like chemical peels, customized facials, and advanced acne treatments. These treatments are designed to target and heal specific skin concerns like discoloration, uneven texture, and acne scarring. I work with a diverse range of clients, each with their own unique skincare needs..
What sets me apart is my expertise in treating a wide variety of skin types, tones, and concerns, particularly for people with multicultural skin which can often require a more tailored approach. I understand the unique challenges that come with darker skin tones, including hyperpigmentation, melasma, and scarring, and I use treatments that are both effective and safe. My approach is grounded in understanding the science behind skin, rather than just following trends. This allows me to address issues at their root cause, not just temporarily mask them.
I encourage clients to adopt healthy skincare routines that include both in-office treatments and at-home care. I believe in educating my clients on their skin so they feel empowered to make the best decisions for their skincare journey.
What I’m most proud of, brand-wise, is my ability to create a space where people of all backgrounds feel heard, understood, and valued. I’ve cultivated a space where people know they’re getting personalized care, not just another generic facial. I believe in educating my clients on their skin so they feel empowered to make the best decisions for their skincare journey.
KClark Skin is that is about building confidence, addressing concerns and empowering to feel their best in their skin. Whether you’re dealing with a specific skin concern or just want to maintain a healthy complexion, I offer a thoughtful, individualized approach that can help you achieve your skincare goals—without shortcuts, and with results that last.
