Meet Kainani Stevens of Downtown, Everbank Stadium

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kainani Stevens.

Hi Kainani, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I studied Journalism in college and I worked in local TV for ten years as a reporter and anchor. I was a one-woman-band band for most of my career. I would shoot, write, produce and present all my stories. Things were especially difficult during the pandemic and I wanted my next job to be the perfect fit. I applied for a team reporter job with the Jaguars on a whim and the rest is history.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I certainly struggled starting out in this field of work. Toxic work environments can be seriously detrimental to employees and I dealt with a lot of that early in my career. I often questioned my abilities and felt anxiety when it came to doing my job. Over time I realized that the validation needed to come from within and the confidence I have now in my own abilities continues to grow every day.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I joined the Jacksonville Jaguars as the team reporter just before the 2023 NFL Draft. I host some of our digital shows and help produce other digital content as well. You can hear me doing sideline reporting during the preseason radio broadcasts and see me on the big screen during the regular season at EverBank Stadium. I love storytelling and asking questions that I think Jags fans would like to know the answer to. Having the access that we do with the coaches and players allows for us to be really transparent with fans and I think that sets our coverage apart. I’m proud of the evolution of my career to get to this point and I’m enjoying it every day………even when I’m sweating to death during training camp 🙂

How do you think about happiness?
A flea flicker touchdown, good iced coffee and hanging out at the dog park with my German Shepherd.
