Today we’d like to introduce you to John Myers.
Hi John, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was in church one Sunday in Atlanta Ga. a young mother brought her son down to the altar. She had entered his room and found him standing there with a rope around his neck. She brought him to the church for help; we had no assistance to give her. We offered the basic in what we could, but she could have gotten that anywhere. I thought to myself that is the last time we will be that unprepared. I went back to school, got my masters in Pastoral Counseling to assist families in areas of life, grief, and trauma. Little did I know that God would lead me into more and more relationship counseling. It became about 95 percent of my counseling. I have even published a book “How to Love Your Wife”, teaching men how to enter this part of their lives to be the leader their wives would desire.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road in this line of work is not as smooth as many think. When doing God’s work, there will be attacks. The great challenge is not picking up your client’s problems. Not calling them to see how they are doing.
Convincing couples they have to put the work in, as an individual and as a team.
The homework I give couples are simple but not easy. It reminds them of what they did when they were dating.
Advertising and cancelling appointments. As a small business, this can eat u a budget.
It does frustrate me when I hear couples needing help but will wait for a later date to get help.
We’ve been impressed with Hey Can We Talk LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business is Hey Can We Talk, I am a one man show specializing in counseling to help individuals or couples better their relationship, spiritually, emotionally, financially, and yes physically.
I show people how easy it is to complicate the simple. We have left the proven methods of what works and taken on things that do not work.
I am known for my success, I am not the best, but I am good at what I do. My sessions open in prayer and close in prayer. I am not here to judge anyone; I just see what you are doing and offer ways to do it better. My question is “If what you are doing is not working, why do you still do it?”
I am proud to help people get better than they were before. Teaching them not to work on their relationship but to work on making themselves better for the relationship, better people do better thing and do things better.
My services are not timed, one flat rate, I work around my client’s schedules, and I have a sense of humor. I have no forms to fill out, no paperwork, just a phone call, email or text to get started. I keep the simple simple.
I also offer premarital counseling, it is in depth, it consists of all things couples have come to me about. These are things I believe couples should be aware of and have a plan going into the marriage of how they will handle it when it appears, and it will appear.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
