Meet Javaughn Johnson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Javaughn Johnson.

Hi Javaughn, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for sharing your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
My story of construction began as a young child. I grew up with generations of my family in construction. I started going to work with my dad as a young child. I would work with him on the weekends, during school breaks, and during the summertime. From there, I began to create a passion and craft for the construction field. Once I graduated high school and while attending college. I continued to work with my dad doing construction for a while. At the age of 20, I decided to venture off on my own and created Javaughn Johnson & Son’s Inc.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
When it comes to being a business owner, there is no such thing as a smooth road. There are many hurdles and obstacles along the way. Learning to manage was one of my biggest challenges when I started my business. I had to learn how a system for scheduling and maintaining multiple jobs, managing employees, ensuring I had enough employees for all job sites, and making sure deadlines were met.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Javaughn Johnson and Son has over 18 years of experience in the Construction Industry. The core of our business is offering services in terms of concrete, block, brick, and demolition. Our company works on small and large projects. I am most proud of where my company is today. I originally started a business with the idea of just making money. As the years passed, I sat down with my wife, and we decided to develop a better business plan for the business. My wife was a much need asset to the company’s management side. The goal was to create a family-oriented owned business. As well as build a successful brand and company to pass down to our 3 boys’ and generations to come. We also want to build a family-style environment with our employees. On the business side, as a professional, I like to provide quality artistry while maintaining professionalism. I am able take my kids around different areas to show them projects I’ve worked on in Florida. I am also proud of the mark that Javaughn Johnson and Sons has left and will continue to make in the community regarding the construction industry. I am creating a brand my boys will be proud of and showing them how to take the company to a new and higher level and continue to keep the Javaughn Johnson and Son’s Inc. brand alive.

Networking and finding a mentor can positively impact one’s life and career. Any advice?
Regarding networking, once you begin in the field, you start to meet people, and keeping a good reputation helps you along the way. When it comes to mentoring, I’ve learned from those that have been in the field longer than myself. I ask questions when I don’t know.
