Today we’d like to introduce you to Jacquez Joseph.
Hi Jacquez, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
From as far back as I could remember I was always putting clothes together one way or another. This clothing brand was born while I was a personal trainer. I first had resistance bands then I started designing clothes to set myself apart. Back then my brand was called train wit Q. As I designed more pieces I didn’t want to just be limited to making fitness clothes. Although I wanted to keep the comfortable aspect of fitness I also wanted the look and quality of something that could be worn to an upscale event. That’s when I decided to use a variation of my middle name “Clyde Lourdez” and the concept of Com*for*ture was born.
Comforture (n.) — a Clyde Lourdez signature philosophy: couture made for comfort. It’s where high fashion meets the effortless ease of everyday wear.
As much as I wanted you to look good on the outside I also knew I wanted to create something that would also help you feel good on the inside. That’s where our use of Adinkra symbols came from. As well as our use of a crown as one of our logo’s. I want our clothes to empower the wearer. Build them up with strong affirmations such as our “You’re Royal” mantra and “You’re Royal” ad campaign and have strong symbolism built on faith and self empowerment with a strong sense of community because I believe when you lift someone up, they often turn around and do the same for someone else.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Definitely hasn’t been all smooth. I believe when you’re trying to build something new that will have a strong impact you’re gonna be tested. It’s almost like how bad do you really want it and if you want it bad enough you’re gonna have to build thick skin to deal with all the things that will be thrown at you. This isn’t for the weak. One of the biggest obstacles we have in our community is having the funding to scale your brand but where there’s a will there’s a way. Gotta stay focused and keep the faith that you will make it.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Clyde Lourdez was born from a vision: to craft fashion that doesn’t just look good — it feels right. Designed for the modern-day kings and queens, our pieces are created to elevate confidence beginning with comfort. Every collection is a celebration of individuality, culture, and boldness — fashion that lets you reclaim your crown, every single day.
Our mission at Clyde Lourdez is to design garments that empower. We believe comfort fuels confidence, and confidence inspires authenticity. When you feel good in what you wear, you show up as your truest, boldest, most compassionate self.
I’m the founder and creative director.
What I’m most proud of is we are building a brand without compromising our morals and values. We are having our biggest show to date on Dec 12th called “The Coronation” and dropping our newest collection of the same name. I’m very proud of our growth and the new pieces. Early bird invitations go on sale Oct. 10th
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
My family and uplifting our community. My family matters because this is who I do it for. I wanna show my children what is possible when you believe in yourself. My girl that has been my peace and my biggest supporter since meeting her and my friends who are like family that’s been my crutch through all of this. I really wanna see growth in our people because we are so divided right now. From politics, religion, classism, feels like the list goes on. I’m just trying to do my part by helping raise the vibration one piece at a time.
