Meet Jackson Gorbutt of Brunswick, GA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jackson Gorbutt.

Jackson, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was born and raised in Brunswick, GA, a scenic coastal town in Georgia. My musical path began at a young age, playing in church as many musicians did, and building music acumen. My parents reminisce about my early days, remembering me banging on pots and pans and waking them up at 7 AM playing away, despite no family members having musical inclinations; I was bitten by the bug! The funniest thing my dad always said was, “I can barely use the radio.” My musical influences spanned a wide range of genres, including country, rock, blues, and Christian music.

I established roots in country music, but at the same time, I was a working drummer, playing everything from George Strait, Joe Diffie, Charlie Daniel’s, Tanya Tucker, The Judds, Travis Tritt, The Eagles, Pink Floyd, and Journey. That’s just a fraction of the notable ones that have brought me to where I am today.

Currently: I’m on the road playing with Georgia Top 40 County band South of Athens. I have had the amazing privilege of touring, preforming or recording with artists such as: Kaitie O (Formerly Of The Voice), Will Moseley (American Idol), Jackson Bethune, Adam Crabb (The Gathiers), Johnny White and more! Additionally, I have had the great privilege of providing assistance in producing of numerous studio albums and singles, focusing on arrangement and music direction.

Every day, I wake up with a heart full of gratitude, feeling incredibly blessed. I feel incredibly blessed each day to be living my dream of making music. Not a lot of people get to fulfill it and make it their career. But, of course, there are bad days too, it’s not always easy and not glamorous like people think. I look at it from this perspective: anytime I step on stage, into a studio session, or even just playing a Cajon, I do it as if it could be my last chance. You never know! “Do it to the best of your ability and in the moment as it could be the last time.”

First and foremost, I have to thank the Lord Almighty; none of this would be possible without Him! I am incredibly grateful for the support of my family, friends, fellow musicians, and mentors who continue to encourage me to chase my dreams and never give up. I truly would not be where I am today without them!

I’ll leave you with this: living my dream isn’t just about personal fulfillment—though I’ve already been fortunate enough to experience some incredible moments—it’s about spreading joy and inspiring others along the way. Knowing that my craft can move someone or lift their spirits gives me a sense of purpose I wouldn’t trade for anything!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s not always easy playing and being on the road, but that’s part of what makes the journey meaningful. Like any path, there have been ups and downs—learning curves, long nights, and figuring out life while learning to live in the moment. But every challenge has helped me grow, and I’m truly grateful for all of it, which has made the wins that much sweeter!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?

It has that great hometown feel – a tight-knit community, friendly faces, and a pace that reminds you to slow down and appreciate the little things. There has been incredible growth in the music industry and food scene over the last six years, I’d say. It’s constantly growing! Growing up or spending time there has definitely shaped who I am.
