Today we’d like to introduce you to Fatima Razic.
Hi Fatima, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I was a happy-go-lucky little girl until I was 10 when the civil war in Bosnia broke out, and life as I knew it was completely upended. My life became mass evacuations, bombs, shootings, snipers, and survival. I faced mortality at an age when I should’ve been playing with dolls. I had to grow up fast and face circumstances that even adults have a hard time facing. It was instilled in me early on that education was important and my key to freedom, independence, and strength. So I followed that path and got my Bachelors’s and Masters’s degrees in Information Technology. At 16, I came to the USA for a better life. Seven years into my corporate career, I had financial freedom, independence, and an excellent comfortable life, but it felt as if something was amiss. Why did I feel uninspired and unfulfilled if I had accomplished things I craved while growing up in war? This is the question I wanted to answer when I quit the corporate world.
Though my life lessons journey began at the outset of the war, I was at an impasse at the ripe age of 29, asking questions like what is the meaning of life and what makes me happy. The following years could be best described as the intense seeking of the meaning of life and figuring out where I fit into all of it. Through that time, I found music, songwriting, being creative, and expressing through music things I had held in for a very long time.
In 2018, I felt like I had found myself and where I fit in, but I was still searching for a way to make a living because as much as I loved being in the creative, open space, I still had bills to pay. I knew I was preparing for something. I didn’t know what. Through pure divine intervention, I started making gemstone diffuser bracelets and learned that I could make a living in the creative space. I went through three business names before I landed on Evolmi. Being a perpetual seeker and student of life, I thought maybe if I asked The Universe to Evolve me, there was a chance I would be heard. On the day I was deciding between Evolmi and Evolme, a well-known medium picked me out of a crowd and gave me a reading. Her last name ends in ‘mi,’ so I decided that Evolmi was the right business name for me. A couple of hours later, a friend came to see me, and after hearing my excitement, he said you know Evolmi is Imlove backward. It was at that moment I knew I had the right name. I knew The Universe heard me, which affirmed that I was on the right path. Fast forward to today, I have a successful spiritual wellness business with handmade bracelets, essential oil blends, and a clothing line that reads Imlove in the mirror. I teach people to love themselves, affirm themselves daily through spiritual growth, and use whatever tools they need to stay the course.
The overall lesson of my life is even though sometimes life gives us war and aggression and hatred, we can still end up spreading love in the world and be the light that we all so desperately need at a time when darkness looms over every corner.
Alright, let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
At times when I was on rough roads, I couldn’t see the light at the end of the tunnel, but having lived through all of it, I can say that I can find gratitude for all the sharp rocks I had to walk over because arriving to where I am today wouldn’t have happened had the road been smooth.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Evolmi is a work of passion. It came through me, and it continues to evolve me spiritually. My job is to listen and hear what is needed of me and execute. What sets me apart is that I love connecting with people and shedding light on the shadows I excavated within myself to let people know they are not alone. We all go through different types of trauma in life, and even though it might be less significant compared to Holocaust survivors, these traumas are still our biggest hurts. When I was younger, I used to think that I was a bigger victim of life and that my life was much harder than others’, as if it was a competition. And even if it were a competition, it wouldn’t be one I’d ever want to win.
Today I can laugh at myself for thinking this way because all I can do is do better by myself today. But I still ponder that what I used to do by making my experiences bigger or worse was only indicative that all the shadows those experiences left behind needed to be brought into the light. They needed my attention, but because I wasn’t giving them my attention, I was asking for attention from others by making my life appear harder. We all go through hardships, and we shouldn’t be comparing them. We should be learning from each other by understanding ourselves and others.
How I help my customers is to suggest crystals and essential oils, they can work with to achieve their goals or to tackle something within themselves. With custom-made bracelets, my customers are more likely to wear them, continue to do the internal work, practice mindfulness, and discover the side of them that is yearning to come out.
My apparel line is printed in small batches. It reminds my customers when they look in the mirror to affirm themselves and recognize they are beautiful in their uniqueness and offering to the world, regardless of what their life experiences have taught them to believe. To change beliefs we’ve held about ourselves for a long time, we have to start affirming different things to ourselves. This process takes practice and time, and giving that space to ourselves is important.
I’m proud of many things I’ve accomplished in my business, but the logo design holds a special place in my heart. The fact that I designed it myself and was able to trademark it gives me pride. The fact that it’s something cool you can wear on your chest and affirm yourself is special to me. We usually wear clothing that tells people what we believe in and stand for, but I intend to reverse that. I was to give people clothing that communicates with them and fills them with energy. In a busy world, we all need reminders that it’s ok to pause, affirm positive beliefs, and hold space for ourselves.
Let’s end by discussing what matters most to you and why.
The most important thing is to contribute positively and constructively and leave this world a better place than we found it. We can all do this in whatever way suits us best. I choose to do it through teaching, sharing my story and lessons, and showing the world that we can transmute our traumas into beautiful expressions of light and love.
