Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniella Bowers.
Hi Daniella, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was living in New York in 2014, freshly out of school and eager to explore different career paths. I knew I wanted to work for a company that was both results-driven and customer-focused. One day, I walked into a waxing center in the Flatiron District and was hired on the spot! I quickly discovered I had a natural talent for waxing, not just because of the technical side, but because I loved forming connections with my clients and making them feel comfortable. The fast-paced environment and the opportunity to meet so many people every day made me realize this was something I could see myself doing long-term.
Since then, life has taken me on quite the adventure. I became a military wife, and as our family grew, so did my career. I earned licenses in Virginia, California, and Florida so I could continue doing what I love wherever we were stationed. When we settled back in the Jacksonville area in 2023, I knew it was time to set up shop again after the great success I had in Virginia. That’s when I met Holly: CEO of Evolve Studios and the previous owner of Southern Smooth Wax Studio. She believed I could take Southern Smooth to the next level, and that’s how we got to where I am today. I’m now the proud owner of Southern Smooth Wax Studio, and I couldn’t be more thankful for Holly’s mentorship and for the incredible support from the Yulee community. I’m so excited to see what the future holds!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
As the saying goes, “A smooth sea never made a skilled sailor.” Being a military spouse definitely came with its share of challenges, especially when it came to my career. Just when I would get settled and build a solid book of clients, we’d get new orders and have to move. That was the hardest part, leaving behind clients who had become more like family. You really get to know people—their lives, their kids, their jobs—so each move felt like starting over in more ways than one.
Still, those experiences taught me resilience and adaptability. My love for helping people feel comfortable and confident in their own skin keeps me motivated to rebuild and keep growing, no matter where life takes me.

Southern Smooth Wax Studio is a cozy, welcoming space right in the heart of Yulee, Florida. We specialize in full-body waxing, everything from Brow Tints to Brazilians! We want everyone who walks through our doors to feel cared for, comfortable, and confident when they leave.

First and foremost, I have to give a huge shoutout to Holly, the previous owner of Southern Smooth. She believed in me from day one and encouraged me to take the leap into entrepreneurship. She’s been an incredible mentor and continues to cheer me on as I navigate business ownership.
I also want to thank all of my past clients across every state I’ve worked in. they’ve helped me grow into the confident, skilled professional I am today. And a special mention goes to Ari and Peggy, the owners of Arrow Wax Studio in Virginia, for giving me that final push and reminding me I’d be crazy not to take the opportunity Holly offered me.
