Today we’d like to introduce you to Courtney Skipworth
Hi Courtney, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born and raised in Jacksonville, Fl following my graduation from University of North Florida I joined the United Stated Navy as an Information Systems Technologist. While serving I learned of the opportunity to go from enlisted to officer via the Medical Enlisted Commissioning Program ( MECP ). This program allowed me to attend nursing school while being active duty and upon completion become a commissioned officer and Navy nurse.
At my first command I was fortunate to become a postpartum nurse where I was able to support both high risk pregnant moms and mom who had just delivered. I did this for a little over three years and fell in love with what is considered the “fourth trimester”. I was fortunate to work with some amazing nurses, corpsman, doctors and lactation consultants. I became pregnant and delivered my first child, a daughter during this time and found that I had a passion for supporting and educating others on breastfeeding and lactation.
Like most mommies I also found pleasure in taking pictures of my family. With the support of my husband and family and two beautiful children to capture precious moments I dove into photography. I am still an active duty Navy nurse but have integrated my passion for lactation and love for photography into Picture Perfect Latch LLC which is a private practice lactation and photography business
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I wouldn’t say it was smooth but it hasn’t been horrible. I think the most difficult part is letting people know that support is available. It has been slow going but I have been able not only assist in a few breastfeeding journeys but also get some precious moments captured for lasting memories.

Combining my passion for capturing life’s beautiful moments with my dedication to supporting families Picture Perfect Latch will offer both expert lactation consulting and heartwarming photography services. Whether you’re looking for guidance on your breastfeeding journey or timeless photos of your little one, I’ve got you covered. Coming from a nursing background with experience in postpartum care, I am currently 13 months into my second breastfeeding journey as well I can offer more than just feeding assistance during an important transition for families.
Lactation services include prenatal consultations, postpartum consultations and follow up care. We also offer speciality consultations which include flange filling, assistance with pumping, and planning for going back to work. Our consultations can assist with common concerns on latch and positioning, questions regarding milk supply, infant weight concerns and oral function. We currently offer weekend in home consultations but hoping to expand in the future.
Photography services focus on maternity, newborn, and motherhood with options for studio and in home sessions. I would like offer fresh 48 and birth photography once time and scheduling permits.
It is my goal to offer an experience that is expertly framed and uniquely yours, a picture perfect lactation story.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
My advice is just to put yourself out there and ask. I’ve been fortunate to find people in my niche that are willing to lend their expertise and mentorship.
