Today we’d like to introduce you to Corryn Mobley.
Hi Corryn, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Having an idea is one thing—but actually pulling money out of your savings and investing it into a business you have no experience in, where everything is a learning curve, is a whole different story.
We had the idea three years ago after renting a water slide for our daughter’s birthday. We thought it would make a fun little side hustle. We came up with a name, made a website, designed business cards, and created graphics… and then we didn’t do anything with it. We decided to wait and put the idea on the back burner—it just didn’t feel like the right time.
Fast forward three years, and we finally decided to go for it. We drove down to Tampa for an event called Wave-Con. It was the perfect opportunity to check out slides, attend a Q&A, tour the warehouse, ask questions, and connect with others in the industry. It truly felt like the right launch point for us.
Now we’re in our first season in the party rental world—learning a lot, growing quickly, and excited to see where this journey takes us.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Taking a leap of faith and stepping into the unknown always comes with challenges. We were in completely uncharted territory, so everything we did was a learning curve. Thankfully, we had YouTube and a great supplier who answered all our questions—but the struggles were definitely real.
This industry involves moving extremely heavy water slides and inflatables. We’re a husband and wife team with no other employees, and to make things harder, we started out with just a manual dolly. Not having the right equipment added a ton of stress and made things way harder than they needed to be.
One of our biggest challenges was trying to roll up waterlogged inflatables after a rental. It was exhausting. Getting an electric dolly was a complete game changer—it made a huge difference and solved a major pain point for us.
The truth is, as fun as this side hustle might look from the outside—bringing joy, laughter, and smiles to people—it’s actually a tough, dirty job. It’s a lot of physical labor, and if you’re starting out solo, you really need endurance, determination, and grit. I think this is true starting any new business though.

I’m most proud that we actually took the leap and started this business—and that we keep showing up and doing it. Starting a business from scratch is hard, especially in a field you know nothing about. Doing it as a husband-and-wife team isn’t always easy either, but we love the challenge are thankful that as we learn and grow we get to do it together!
One of the coolest things about the country we live in is that you can dream big and go for it. And even if you fail, at least you tried. So here we are—doing Party Pop. We’re learning, growing, showing up, and determined to bring our best every single day. Our goal? To make each customer smile.
