Today we’d like to introduce you to Brodie and Archer Bosick.
Hi Brodie and Archer, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, you could tell our readers some of your backstory.
Hi, we are brothers, the two youngest of five siblings. We started Bos Knives, LLC together last year when we were nineteen and seventeen. We design, draw, and handcraft custom knives from unique raw materials and sell them online. We were born in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, where we lived for most of our lives until we moved to Northeastern Florida in 2021. We were raised with a strong work ethic and were entrepreneurs at a young age. We loved making our own money and being in control of our time. We both knew we wanted to be self-employed when we were older. We were homeschooled, giving us more time to focus on our interests and pursue our hobbies. Our dad made a few knives from scrap metal when we were younger, which sparked our interest, and we also wanted to learn how to make them. He taught us, and we made our first knives when we were thirteen and fourteen. It soon became one of our favorite hobbies. We kept perfecting our knife-making process. We started making knives for our family and friends. Eventually, other people became interested in our work and wanted to buy our knives. We sold a few and decided to start our own business making and selling handcrafted custom knives.
It wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Our blade-smithing journey has had a few bumps. We love what we do! The challenges we have faced are not in making our products but the overwhelming amount of information we have had to learn about owning and operating our own business and being young.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about Bos Knives LLC?
Archer and I handcraft all the knives we sell and partake in and oversee all operations of our company. We enjoy designing new blade styles and putting “our twist” on old classic blade styles. The fun part, however, is expressing ourselves creatively by using various exotic materials in designing and making our knife handles. We enjoy turning raw materials into unique artwork that serves a purpose. We take great pride in our work and have grown very passionate about this art. Brand-wise, we are proud of the knife we designed and named the “Wild Bill,” after our grandfather, Bill Haight. We utilized the portion of his cattle brand, “HB,” which represented him and had that engraved on all of the “Wild Bill” knives we have sold. We are proud to have made a knife in remembrance of him because he taught us many things throughout our childhood, and we know he would be honored to have one of our knives named after him. Meaningful relationships have been created with other knife makers via social media, some of which have taught us different techniques and others we have shared techniques with. We enjoy the camaraderie of the custom knife-making community. We have a lot of fun making knife collaborations with other knife makers and are honored that older, more experienced knife makers have asked us to do so. We usually do weekly knife drops on our website. Prior notice is given on the date and time via social media and our website. We also take custom knife orders. Our custom books are currently closed, however. We really enjoy giving money to charities and giving away merchandise. We do it as much as we can. We offer LEO and Military discounts. We appreciate all of you and the sacrifices you and your families make.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Archer and I thank our parents and siblings for helping us with different aspects of our company’s operation. We want to thank the knife-making community, which has given us help and support when needed. We appreciate all of you. We would also like to thank our customers who have given us tremendous support, not only with our products but for us. We would not be where we are today without all of you. Thank you. God Bless!
