Today we’d like to introduce you to Brette Lauren Peeples.
Hi Brette, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Fitness has been my passion my entire life so I found myself continuously coming back to it or it always found me. While working out in the gym about 10 years ago, I was approached by a Cyclebar (boutique spin studio) recruiter asking me to audition for their new South Tampa studio.
Even with my zero experience on a bike (I had never even taken a spin class previously), she was convinced by watching me work out, that I needed to be at their audition. Fast forward to leaving the corporate world, becoming a spin coach in South Tampa, and then helping to open a Fort Lauderdale location, I fell in love with specialized boutique fitness.
Following this, I was hired to help open and manage a brand new Orangetheory Fitness in St. Augustine and from there, transitioned to Fitness Coach at their Nocatee and Jacksonville Beach locations. I truly loved my job and my clients and then Covid hit. All gyms shut down but like many others, I still had bills to pay, so I knew I couldn’t let this pandemic take me down with it so out of it, I started Hustle Empire, LLC.
I provide personal and semi-personal training, monthly boot camps partnered with Publix Greenwise in Nocatee, virtual training, and fitness plans. What was thought to be a tragedy turned into one of my biggest blessings and I haven’t looked back since!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Like any business owner, there are ups and downs, especially in their first year, but my first year was during a pandemic. Gyms have opened and closed multiple times.
Waves of Covid have restricted individuals from working out. Workout equipment was impossible to find for a while and gas prices are soaring. But I learned very quickly that you have to be adaptable and open to change at a moment’s notice and some days take it one day at a time.
Just like training to reach your physical goals, to get there, is a marathon, not a sprint.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in personal training and boot camps. I am high energy and my clients would say that I am very positive and encouraging while also pushing them out of their comfort zone to reach their goals.
I build relationships with those I train and consider each a part of the Hustle Empire family. We are a community together. And it is the greatest feeling when my clients receive results that they can not only feel but see!
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
Jacksonville has so many amazing boroughs!
From walking the Riverwalk downtown to the Arts Market to having a tasting at one of the many breweries and distilleries, enjoying one of the boutique shops in Jax Beach, and enjoying the sunset from the rooftop of River and Post.
There is an endless amount of places to explore and Jacksonville has done a wonderful job over the past 10+ years to make this happen. With that being said, you typically have to drive everywhere. Jacksonville is very spread out, but with our beautiful weather, I take the top of the car and enjoy the sun while I get there.
