Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Taylor
Hi Ashley, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started my journey as a hair and makeup artist by assisting other artists to get acclimated to the industry and see the behind the scenes of how a wedding morning runs. After learning from them and feeling comfortable to take on clients, I freelanced for a few large bridal teams in the area to build comrade with other artists and network with other vendors. Once I felt confident enough to branch out, I started my own business where I have complete control over my bookings and also have a few artists who work under me!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I would say overall it’s been smooth, but it wouldn’t be a business without some struggles along the way! The wedding industry is always evolving, so staying ahead of certain trends can be a challenge.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a bridal hair and makeup artist who focuses on elevating natural beauty. My style is described as “You, elevated”- so it’s really important to me to understand each client and get a feel for their overall persona and use my tools to bring out the best version of themselves. I’m most proud of each connection I make because I feel honored to be trusted with such an important part of a bride’s special day. I’m also proud of my “Best of Weddings” (The Knot) and “Top 3 in the 904” (Premier Bridal Magazine) winnings.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I think having a flexible mindset is super important! No two brides or clients are exactly the same, and no two wedding days are exactly the same! Having a flexible mindset allows everyone involved to have a more pleasant experience overall. Being professional and easy going also go without saying!
