Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Cason.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My goal of becoming a dance teacher began early in my childhood and has continued to shape every step of my journey.
Raised in a small town where the arts weren’t often encouraged as a profession, I held tightly to my passion for dance while navigating adolescence and my own struggles with body image and self-esteem.
Those challenges didn’t push me away from dance — they deepened my purpose within it.
I became increasingly passionate about being a strong, healthy role model for young girls during one of the most vulnerable seasons of their lives. I want them to leave my classroom knowing that failure does not define them, that growth takes courage, and that confidence is built through the process.
In 2017, I graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Arts in Dance and a minor in Educational Studies. In 2018, I became certified as a personal trainer through National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM).
For the past eight years, I’ve had the privilege of teaching and coaching students and clients of all ages. Each opportunity has reinforced my belief that movement is not just physical — it is emotional, developmental, and deeply transformative.
Beyond the studio, I am a devoted wife and mother to my four-year-old daughter, with another little one on the way. Motherhood has only strengthened my commitment to helping young girls grow into confident, resilient women who trust their bodies and believe in their worth.
Dance is more than technique to me. It is a vehicle for empowerment, discipline, resilience, and joy — and I am honored to guide the next generation through that journey.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There were many voices that questioned whether pursuing a degree in dance would truly benefit me — and even today, I occasionally encounter that same skepticism. However, my training only strengthened my conviction. Studying alongside diverse students and learning from dedicated professors deepened not only my technical training, but also my appreciation and respect for the arts as a discipline worthy of study and lifelong commitment.
Throughout my teenage years and into college, I struggled with anxiety. I also battled body image issues that left me feeling anxious and, at times, unworthy during one of the most formative seasons of my life. Through faith, perseverance, and intentional growth, I can now say that I have overcome that diagnosis and experienced genuine healing.
My hope is to be a testimony and a steady presence for those walking through similar struggles, showing them that healing, confidence, and resilience are possible.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My specialty is advanced-level dance instruction designed to challenge students technically while cultivating creativity and artistry. I intentionally integrate my background in personal training into my teaching, applying a strong understanding of anatomy and physiology to the demands of dance. This knowledge allows me to design structured, progressive classes that prioritize injury prevention, strength development, and long-term technical growth.
I currently serve as a competitive coach, acro instructor, and jazz teacher at Legacy Performing Arts. In addition, I have teaching experience in contemporary, lyrical, and hip-hop, allowing me to support well-rounded development across multiple styles.
What’s next?
Looking ahead, I am dedicated to growing both personally and professionally — striving to be the best mother I can be while continuing my education in dance and fitness. I am committed to lifelong learning, embracing every opportunity to refine my craft, deepen my knowledge, and better serve my students.
