Today we’d like to introduce you to Allison Alexander.
Hi Allison, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Ever since I was a little girl I wanted to be a princess. The stories I grew up with really spoke to and comforted me through difficult times in my life. Though I wanted to be a princess at Disney, it just wasn’t realistic while attending college.
One day 4 years ago, I began to wonder “What am I doing to contribute to the future I want?” I looked at myself and said, “You know what? Why not just look?” That’s how I found party princesses! One phone call later and I got an interview! I was so thrilled to be doing something that I loved and with time, I became the manager of North Florida Fairytales. Then one day previous owner came to me and presented the idea of me taking over the business. With no formal degree in business I again said, “You know what? Why not? I can do it!”
I have now owned the business for a year and a half and have grown the staff from 3 to 10 performers and added over 5 new characters! I plan to make the business my full time job as I have found the place I was meant to be. Providing love and smiles to anyone and everyone. Sometimes all it takes is a little faith in yourself and love for what you do, you never know where life will take you! You truly can do and be anything with the right attitude and LOTS of work and dedication!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This definitely has had it’s struggles! I’ve had to learn so many new things, from learning how to build a social media presence to figuring out how to style wigs! Owning a business is hard in ways I never knew, but I will never regret it. I intend on taking my time and slowly building the business, along with myself, to insure we can be the best that we can possibly be!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
We are a party princess company, we attend birthday parties and events as your favorite characters! Though we are mostly known for our princesses, we are currently expanding our character list to include many other characters for all genders and ages! We want to share happiness with everyone, not just one group of people.
I am most proud of my employees. They put in so much work and thoughtfulness into every character they play and it shows. They share the same dreams as I do and they genuinely care about this work. We are a group of musicians, performers and artists that just want to make a difference through our art. I also believe this is what sets us apart from other companies. Not that other companies don’t have the passion, but I believe my group of people really stand out on their own. Our quality and standards are not something that we take lightly. You never know when something you say or do in costume can really affect a person and that is so special to us.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
I’ve learned ALOT of lessons! The most important lesson I’ve learned is how to be a better business owner. The balancing act of not over-booking, not doing enough, doing too much and of course, knowing when to take a step back and taking time for yourself. It’s so easy to throw yourself into something and get lost. Never forget to take care of yourself, when you are at your best then everything else will be too.
