Today we’d like to introduce you to Adrienn Gabriel.
Adrienn, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’m originally from Hungary. Live in Florida state 20 years. Started in 2018 in Fort Lauderdale Beach when I decided I’ll turn my passion to business. Started with little pastries mostly European style, all of my recipes came from my grandma or mom’s kitchen. First I had to test out what American taste buds are craving. Unfortunately, lots of pastries fall off from their expectation, and lots of European treats are not even close to the sweet as Americans. I started on farmer markets, it was. so much fun and joy but business-wise weren’t profitable. More tasting than buying. Started to advertise online and build clientele ( I have 20 years of sales experience). I had lots of phone calls requesting cakes. I wasn’t really a cake maker, but I started watching cake-making videos and practicing a lot and little by little become more of a cake business than a pastry one. I’m still learning and honestly never stop learning and testing new flavors. The business was rolling and saved money for a commercial kitchen and all the licenses to start to sell to retail. Then COVID came and all the time and money were going down in the toilet. Like everyone else was waiting nothing else we could do, fortunately, I had a part-time job on the side. After covid started to go down and people came to Fort Lauderdale Beach to party my cake business got popular. One day we decided it was time to move North because it was getting crowded and just too hot in the South side of Florida. Our son was here in Jacksonville in College, came to visit him and we got a plan to move here to St. Johns county. Business totally different here slower and people don’t want to spend that much for cake but I’ll find my crowd and I’m still busy because I have a full-time job as well and of course never stop learning every day.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialized in cakes but I kept some of my traditional Hungarian pastries as well. I turned my passion to profit. I’m proud of myself to learn everything online and I never stop learning. Always thinking about what would make me different than my competitors. I never would sell anything that I wouldn’t like.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I have a lot of support system from family and friends. Always recommend me as a cake baker.
