Today we’d like to introduce you to 904Matcha .
Hi 904Matcha, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I started my first performance in Orlando with my best friend, Erving. Dude has been by my side since the beginning of my music career! We stopped performing together after I moved out of state, which was weird because I wasn’t used to performing alone. I later realized that it was the push I needed to get out of my comfort zone to reach my potential on the stage. Now I’m performing in front of big crowds getting everyone excited! It’s what I’ve wanted from the start, and I can’t wait to see it get bigger!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Some of my biggest struggles have been finding festivals to perform at. I send countless emails a day to my management team. We rarely get an email back. I feel like I’m just being lost in the flood of emails! I know we will reach someone at some point, But It doesn’t keep me from trying! I’ve got to gain more online presence to bring more traffic to my music! Other than that, blog placements and interviews have been another roadblock.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I am known for my looks. You can always recognize me in public just by my hair. I rock Bantu knots with these pointy triangle-like glasses with a gold frame, and it’s my persona when it comes to my music. I feel 100% like myself when I can get into this character. I’m very proud of the way I carry myself! I like to wear original clothing, so I design my own so that I can confidently say, “this is my look.” My homie TtGawd owns a designer brand called PoisonSurplus, and he is the one that helps me bring my ideas to life! I wouldn’t have been able to style some of these looks the way I wanted without him! Same thing with my homie Logoskilgo! He helped me design one of my shirts for my Magic Mushrooms music video! And now we are in the process of making it a Merch line! Being able to create these looks makes it easier to express me! For this, I am beyond grateful.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
This is a good question! My favorite childhood memory is arguing with my best friend over what sauce we wanted on our pizza! This memory will forever live in my head rent-free because it was cute, and I still stand by my answer. The arguments were never serious. They were more playful than anything, and it was wholesome. I wanted Alfredo sauce, and they always wanted tomato. Whenever I think of this, it warms my heart and reminds me of when life wasn’t as chaotic.
