Life & Work with Wendy Horton of Jacksonville , Florida

Today we’d like to introduce you to Wendy Horton.

Hi Wendy, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I began modeling when I was 10 years old and continued over the years. I started my photography business when our children were little. I naturally was capturing their adorableness daily. I just fell right into taking photos of children, then families, and seniors. Our family decided to get an RV and travel in 2010. This adventure landed us in California for a few years. While there, I started working with several makeup artists , stylist, models and actresses for portfolio updates, magazine editorials, content creation, and brand photography. I have been in the industry on both sides of the camera for 41 years. I love what I do. I have so much fun working with others to help them bring forth their visions.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Of course there have been struggles along the way. Over the last 51 years , life has brought seasons of challenge that at times felt overwhelming. I’ve learned to see those trials differently through faith. Trusting Jesus has carried me through and he continues to show me that struggles are not wasted. They are moments of stretching, growth, and refinement. Looking back, even the hardest seasons have shaped me as an artist and a person, giving me deeper compassion, creativity, and strength.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’ve been drawn into art from a very young age. What began as a love for creativity led me to study fashion and graphic design, which gave me a strong foundation in visual storytelling. Over the years photography became the way I could bring all of those influences together, capturing not just images, but emotion, beauty and connection. My career has given me the privilege of working with people from all over the world and I’ve found that each project feels like a new adventure. No two jobs are the same and that’s what excites me. I love the challenges, the creative discoveries, and especially the incredible people I meet along the way. Looking back, art feels like it’s been woven into every season of my life. Photography has been more than a profession. It’s been a journey of growth, expression, and joy. I’m deeply grateful to God for giving me the opportunity to do this work and for the way it continues to inspire and surprise me.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
To the younger generation, I would like to say…. God has you in his hands. He loves you more than you can imagine and created you with a unique purpose. If you will pursue him, he will lead and guide you, sometimes in ways you won’t fully see or understand until you look back. Then you’ll recognize the thread. He has been weaving through you, your whole life, shaping you, preparing you and carrying you. Nothing is wasted with Jesus, and walking with him will always bring you to the place you were meant to be.
