Today we’d like to introduce you to Sean Bielman.
Sean, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started my career in engineering drafting and was homebrewing as a hobby. That hobby became my full-time focus when I opened Engine 15 Brewing Company in 2010. Out of necessity, I learned how to fix things when they broke and picked up a few things along the way. I started Bielman Brewery Services in 2021 so that I could help other breweries in my community and launched Bielman Brau Supply a few years later to help ensure there was quality affordable brewery equipment available. My wife and I opened Myrtle Avenue Brewing in the Railyard District in 2022 and have been so grateful to be a part of the brewery community for all these years.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There have been many challenges along the way, and we have had to pivot more times that I can count… but I wouldn’t change any of it for the world. Each hurdle helped to push us forward, to grow and to be more open to future possibilities.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Bielman Brewery Services & Brau Supply is focused on quality, individualized support, services and equipment for the food and beverage industry. I offer the full scope of services from design and installation to maintenance and training. My mission is to empower local businesses with quality equipment and reliable maintenance and support. I started BBS because there was an unmet need in our local brewery community and want nothing more than to see our local businesses thrive. I do my best to be available to my customers whenever there is a need, which oftentimes is outside of typical work hours. As a brewery owner, I understand just how devasting a chiller issue can be during service; especially on a busy night…which of course is when those things always happen. I am proud of what I’ve been able to accomplish these past 5 years and honored to be able to provide a service to our local brewery community that isn’t available in a lot of other cities.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
When I’m not turning the wrench at a brewery, I’m probably turning the wrench in my garage on one of my vintage Volkswagen’s. I would love to one day open a brewery that also serves as a vintage VW repair shop.
