Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Ballard.
Hi Sarah, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan and I’ve truly been a creative my whole life.
Growing up surrounded by the arts, I always knew I loved creating — I just didn’t realize how many possibilities existed. As a child, I spent my days singing, dancing, drawing and painting. In elementary school, I designed fashionable pieces on paper, and by my senior year of high school, I was bringing those designs to life on dress-down Fridays. Creativity wasn’t just something I did — it was a part of who I was.
I watched my dad build stage props for our church plays and witnessed both my mom and dad use their musical gifts with excellence. Art, music, design, and expression were always present in my home. I was constantly immersed in creativity in some form, and it shaped me deeply.
After graduating high school, I enrolled at Michigan State University with plans to become an architectural engineer. It wasn’t necessarily because I loved the field — it was because I knew I needed stability and income. But in 2016, my family and I made a major move to Jacksonville. I transferred to University of North Florida and shifted my studies to business marketing — a decision that aligned much more closely with who I truly was.
While at UNF, I launched a small sunglasses brand called SiaShade and sold my products during market days on campus. That was the true beginning of my entrepreneurial journey. It was the first time I saw creativity and business intersect in a tangible way.
After college, I began working for a local organization as a Social Media & Marketing Coordinator and later stepped into the role of Worship and Music Coordinator. During that time, I realized I wasn’t just creative — I was multifaceted. The passions I carried as a child began resurfacing in powerful ways. I styled projects, managed multiple social media accounts, creatively directed video shoots and productions, and helped bring various sets and concepts to life.
Being in those spaces — creating freely and intentionally — affirmed something in me: this is where I’m meant to be.
After five years with the organization, I made the decision to fully trust God and step into my business, Siacreative, full time.
And I haven’t looked back since.
Now I am helping individuals bring their vision to life creatively from developing concepts, styling, content creation, set designing, and Creative Directing.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road to get here was definitely not easy. I had many character building seasons. But understanding who I am in Christ always brought me back to where I needed to be.

When working creatively classical music is what I listen to. These are the 2 scriptures I live by/ Base my business off of.
Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
EXODUS 35: 35 He has filled them with skill to do all kinds of work as engravers, designers, embroiderers in blue, purple and scarlet yarn and fine linen, and weavers—all of them skilled workers and designers.
