Life & Work with Robyn Branch of Amelia Island

Today we’d like to introduce you to Robyn Branch.

Hi Robyn, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started my design journey as a child attending the High Point furniture market with my parents. They owned a small town furniture store in NC and I “designed” the floor and accessorized for hours. I later worked with my sister on model homes during her real estate career.

I became a dance teacher and continued that as well as working in fashion for over 30 years. My next career carried me into home decor and retail where I quickly realized I needed to design to make the business work. So I circled back to my beginnings. I now also build new homes and renovations, my favorite.

I am ASID Florida North president this year and am loving my year of service and learning.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My journey has not been easy. I love being of service, but I’ve learned to move on if a client is not a good fit. I opened in 2008 when the economy fell apart and I have dealt with supply issues, relationships and economies that all small businesses have to deal with. I am still here and am thankful to God for the wonderful clients and vendors and relationships I’ve made along the way.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in whole home design and boutique design. We are a full service design firm and of course work on one room projects, but do love to pull the entire home into the limelight. We are very service oriented and often do more than one project for our clients. Our large range of vendors and relationships in the marketplace and unusual eye, often set us apart.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
We take risks everyday at RBD. We try to lessen the risk for things that could go wrong, but never in the design. It’s pretty much about risks.
