Today we’d like to introduce you to Ran.
Hi Ran, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I had worked as graphic designer in Thailand for 15 years. Arts is my passion, I love drawing which benefit my work as a tattoo artist today. When I just arrived to US my English was unproficient So I still do what I love drawing and kept doing it. But I had to work in different field that require less English skill. Until my closed friend from the Arts institute convinced me to start my tattoo career. That inspired me to make a research and practice to tattoo. Then started my career as tattoo artist 10 years ago,
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The starting was the hardest. After I was ready, I applied to be a tattoo artist in my tattoo shops. But I was not chosen. I used the criticism and racism as a drive to make me work and practice harder. Every crisis has opportunities, it made start my own tattoo studio. Today I can say that I am satisfied with my work and still happy to crate the art for my clients.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My style is a combination of realism with fine lines that has a sense of feminism. My natural painting especially flowers set my apart from the others as it show fine lines and soft shadow.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
The most memorable memory was when I was a school respresentative to show Thai classical dance (rum Thai) at the local fairs. That was a moment that I was impressed and proud of myself. That was the reason I named my tattoo studio Rum Thai Tattoo
