Life & Work with Maya Francis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maya Francis.

Hi Maya, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I am a proud native and resident of Jacksonville, Florida. Growing up in what many would deem the “hood”, I’ve experienced both the positive and negative outcomes of growing up in what the outside would deem an “impoverished” community. As a result, my desire became to help and serve others.

When I was younger, I never really knew what that would look like long term, however, as I got older, I realized that I had a natural knack for building genuine relationships with others, as well as sharing knowledge, wisdom, and advice.

Once a mentor to younger students, it evolved over the years to me now serving as a Life Coach, Community Leader, Equity Advocate, and Pastor in training.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It certainly has not been a smooth road. The majority of my struggles have been internal. Battling with insecurities, self-doubt, imposture syndrome, comparison, inferiority complex, and so much more.

While everything was already in me, it has taken me some time to believe in myself.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My name is Coach Maya J and I serve as the founder of Journey Moments with Maya J, LLC. A Christian life coaching business where it is my mission to equip, encourage, and teach believers to live a life inspired by the Word of God.

Together, my clients and I identify the barriers that are preventing them from reaching their goals utilizing practical tools to move them from where they are, to where they are destined to be In Life and In Christ. I am known most for helping my clients build a stronger relationship and dependency on God. It’s not just my job, but my passion and purpose to walk with individuals through both the desert and the oasis that is life.

Contrary to what the world may tell us, we were never meant to do life alone. I’m not just here for them, we are here for one another. I am most proud of being able to see my clients realize that God has always been with them and truly will never leave them or forsake them.

When they understand this, they become unstoppable and understand that there is literally nothing they cannot do. What sets me apart from other Life Coaches is my emphasis on spirituality and relationship with Christ.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love the fact that our city is located along the river. One of my favorite hobbies is getting my blanket or chair and relaxing on the side of the river banks.

What I like least about our city is that everyone is not recognized in an equitable way. Similar to most places, it’s all politics, who you know, versus the value you add.
