Life & Work with Lucia Sirna

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lucia Sirna.

Hi Lucia, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, how can you bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was born in a small Sicilian village, and I have a master’s degree in Humanities and a 2nd level Postgraduate Master’s in International Economy. I left Sicily and moved to Northern Italy looking for work where I lived and worked as a recruiting manager for six years, but I was not happy because I missed the blue sky, the sun, and the sea. I like traveling, and I love challenges, so I chose to move to Malta. A small island full of life, colors, light, and chaos. A crossroads of people, different languages, and several religions. And here, I took the chance to leverage my skills as an online seller to be a content creator to work in digital marketing and e-commerce. I created online shops where I sell my designs for t-shirts, canvases, and pillows. I wrote a collection of short stories, a collection of poems, and I published a photo book.
I found my way.

Would it have been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
‘Life is like a roller coaster. It has its ups and downs. But it’s your choice to scream or enjoy the ride’. My life has had a few ups and downs, and sometimes I scream instead of enjoying the ride. I scream with desperation when I need something and joy when I get it. Maybe I love to scream because I feel alive. I have encountered many struggles along the way. The first obstacle was the English language because I had studied French and Romanian. I have taken face-to-face and online courses and keep studying English because it is important for my personal and professional life. The second obstacle is Italian culture. We Italians have linguistic and mental boundaries and work for a living; we don’t live for working. I started working for foreign companies like Albanians, Israelis, and Spaniards in Malta. I have had Colombian, Indian, Ukrainian, and Pakistani colleagues. So I understood that borders don’t exist; borders are only mental. Also, when you work online, you are connected to the world anytime, anywhere.

Thanks for sharing that. So, you could tell us a bit more about your work.
I am a content writer and copywriter. I have skills in digital marketing and online sales. I create online content as posts for social media, mailing lists, Ads to promote the brands or sell their products, slogans and payoff, business cards and logos, and brochures. I specialize in building e-commerce websites in CMS as an online stores or for dropshipping. I chose the name domain, the template, the images, the SEO contents, the sections, the product sheets, CSV, method payments, and contacts. I have also decided to run my small business. My brand is Lusyrna, with which I sell my products on several online marketplace print-on-demand. I create unique and funny designs for clothing, bags and accessories, home furnishing, cushions, and mugs. One of the best collections is Spotify Code, the just gift to dedicate a song to your loved one. I use it for the collection of Spotify Code of a song. I create a design inspired by the title or song. The song will play when you scan the code on the Spotify app. I published a photo book called ‘Cat Portraits that I sell online and in printed books. This is a collection of artistic photography with the subject of fluffy friends. There are 160 great shots taken in one year in Malta. They capture their emotions, souls, feelings, and life. I also sell these photos in one of my online shops, print-on-demand for wall art, home décor, lifestyle, stationery, and tech.

What’s next?
I want to create a single online store print-on-demand where I can sell all my products, including my new purse and handbag collections that I’m working on. It means I should focus on my business and can not work for other companies. Also, I should invest a lot of money. I also would like to make an exhibition about my Cat Portraits. The cats are curious, happy, bored, angry, shy, and funny. Some shots are forcefully stolen, and other shots are conquered with sweetness. All the shots give enthusiasm and amazement to those who observe them. Their faces are so expressive that they open a gateway to a surreal world that deserves to be experienced through their artistic portraits because the usual photographic shots would have put the cats in a trivial reality. I haven’t cats. I have a dog called Dylan, a staff adoptee I immensely love. I’m too ambitious, or I’m just a dreamer.
