Today we’d like to introduce you to Kamau Leitner.
Kamau, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Mr. Kamau Leitner is a man of excellence, integrity, and respect. With a personal motto of “Preparation plus opportunity equals success,” Kamau consistently strives to excel in all aspects of his life. Born and raised in Tampa, FL, Kamau Leitner moved to Jacksonville, FL to attend Edward Waters College (EWC/U), the first historically black college in Jacksonville in 2005.
He was an All-American Student-Athlete who started 4 seasons as the quarterback for the EWC/U football team, a Student Ambassador who served as the Student Government Association’s President(2008-2009). Additionally, a man of service and scholarship where is a 2007 initiate of the Soulful Chi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
He is currently an active member of the Theta Phi Graduate Chapter of Omega Psi Phi in Jacksonville, serves as the Florida Statewide Organization Undergraduate Relations Chair, and is also a 7th District Undergraduate relations committee member (Florida Chair). Kamau Leitner earned a Business Administration Degree from Edward Waters College (now University) in 2009 and also a Master’s Degree in Business Intelligence from Troy St. University.
Kamau Leitner has resided in the city of Jacksonville for 15 years. Mr. Leitner is employed by the Department of Defense as a Program Management Analyst for the Navy during the day and strives to organize & promote quality events for the Jacksonville professional community during the night.
As a serial business owner, consultant, event planner, talent manager, and promoter with the Crown Capital Group, Kamau has established a reputation for organizing upscale, fun, professional, and safe events for the city of Jacksonville.
Kamau also has an established Non-Profit 501C3 Foundation, Thee Primetime Foundation that has executed consistent, worthy community service projects since 2014 within the Jacksonville and Tampa area. Kamau is known to connect the dots in respect to networking with humility and style that truly celebrates life
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Honestly, I’m a firm believer in preparation!
Although when operating in different spaces with the intent of being progressive and making an impact there are always hardships but taking the good out of the bad, I pride myself on being prepared for the opportunities that are presented so that the process can be as seamless as possible.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
By profession, I’m a Program Management Analyst with the Department of the Defense(Department of the Navy). All in all, I am the liaison between Southeast Navy Installations and our Headquarters in Washington DC.
My specialty is in Financial Management with our Regional Engineer Program Directors. I am most proud of the fact that I assist in supporting and assisting in protecting our Shipmates, Shores, and families.
The thing that separates my job from others is literally what I do in my position with my department, I’m the only one that can do it.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
Along the way, I have had many effective mentors that Influenced me throughout the years.
From my Goddad (Lionel Bryant) & the Bryant Family to my uncles, my first cousin (Akil Buchanan), the Ingram’s (god family), to the Buccaneers Organization more importantly Joe Marciano, my best friends Alex Suber, Miles Anderson & the fam, to my line brothers(Chi 2007), chapter brothers and fraternity brothers, my EWU family and last but not least my Grandma & Mom Edith & Ingrid Hanley.
The stories and assistance of those above I’m forever indebted in, but these are just a few who have molded me to be the man I am today.
