Hi India, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I built Gardenista Jax after leaving teaching and moving from Iowa to Florida, looking for a creative outlet that also allowed me to earn additional income.
I got my start selling plants at a Jacksonville Beach boutique, Echo at the Beach—then quickly pivoted during COVID to selling plants and pots on Facebook Marketplace. I didn’t just sell plants—I taught people how to care for them, where to place them, and how to succeed with them. That education-first approach built trust fast and turned into a loyal, repeat client base.
As I shared more online, my audience grew—and so did the scope of my work. What began with planters evolved into full landscape design and installation projects. I followed that momentum and built a business around it.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, being an entrepreneur is not easy. One must be prepared to learn and grow and fail along the way. The best advice I have for other entrepreneurs is to be afraid and do it anyway! Entrepreneurship is about the journey not the destination.

I specialize in landscape design and installation, transforming outdoor spaces into thoughtfully curated, functional living art. Our exterior planter design and installation service is a close second. Clients love how we elevate porches, patios, pools, and entryways with custom plant combinations that bring personality, structure, and bring their spaces to life.
The project I am most proud of was a full backyard oasis transformation, featuring more than 25 thoughtfully placed planters surrounding the pool, fire pit, and outdoor kitchen. Filled with lush Gardenista Jax plant designs, these planters anchor each space, transforming the landscape into a cohesive, living work of art.
