Today we’d like to introduce you to Dean Phillippi.
Hi Dean, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I did Theater and Stage Plays in High School. I always wanted to be in the film, but when I graduated, it was during the Vietnam War Era, and the draft was still in place, so I enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Once out of the Navy, I did theater and state off and on in my hometown of Washington, Pennsylvania. Eventually, life necessities took place; (work, marriage, children, home, bills and etc.) so I had to hold down a full-time job.
I worked at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida for 30 years and retired, and then I went to JP Morgan Chase as a Vice President and worked there for 5 years, and retired again. While living here in Florida, I did theater and stage plays at the Florida Theater and Florida Times-Union.
Once I retired, I jumped right into acting classes at Tandem Media Studios here in Jacksonville, Florida. I did several classes, which were great, and started auditioning for film, TV Series, Commercials, and Print Shoots, So since 2005, I have been 100% into acting in films, TV Series, Commercials, and Print Shoots.
I am an Award-Winning American SAG-Eligible Actor / Lifestyle Model, and I have done: (90+ TV, Feature Films, Independent Films, Short Films, Music Videos, Live Theater/Stage/Dance Plays, and 40+ National and Local Commercials, and Print Modeling Shoots). I am Multi-Talented and driven; I am originally from Washington, Pennsylvania and I have appeared in numerous Television, Major and Independent Film Productions including: “Don’t Say My Name”, “The Answer”, “The Birthday Wish”, “Counter Intelligence”, “Replica”, “Reality Rob with Rob Schneider”, “The Christmas Wedding Baby”, “With Blood Shot Eyes”, “Grace of Our Father”, “Losing Faith”, “Season of Sacrifice”, “The Race”, “La Famiglia – The Italian Life”, “Summer of 67” just to name a few, and many more.
The personal awards that I have won are:
1.) “Best Dramatic Actor Award” for the film “With Bloodshot Eyes” as a U.S. President at the Southeast Regional Film Festival.
2.) “Best Adult Actor Runner-Up Award” for the films: “Losing Faith”, “The Answer”, “Counter Intelligence” and “With Bloodshot Eyes” at the Southeast Regional Film Festival.
3.) “Actor Award” for the film: “The Season” at the Praising With the Stars Faith and Power Worship Center.
4.) Accepted to be in the Christian Film Database for his work in Faith-Based Films.
The Film Awards that I was cast in are:
1.) “Losing Faith” Short Film as Pastor Robert Cobb (Best Inspirational Short Film),
2.) “Summer of 67” Feature Film as Vietnam Veteran Lieutenant Officer (Best Picture, Best Director),
3.) “The Answer” as Judge Beacon (Best Inspirational Feature Film),
4.) “He’s Lookin’ at You, Kid” Music Video as Grandfather,
5.) “In Utero” Feature Film Role as Police Officer Mancini – “Runner-up for Best Original Film” at the Southeastern Regional Film Festival.
I have done acting since High School, and I became very active in Acting/Modeling since 2005. My goal in acting is to be involved in Inspirational films, Christian or Faith-Based Films, and I was cast and played in several roles such as: (God, U.S. President, Doctor, Pastor, Priest, FBI Agent, Policeman, Judge, Military Captain, Airplane Captain, Government Official, Court Official, Police Chaplain, Manager, TV News Anchor, Grandfather and a variety of other roles), and still interested in pursuing roles of these types.
I come to acting with a desire to share and encourage God’s word and to do Inspirational or Faith-Based Films. I love acting and I have a sincere passion for acting. I have trained and worked professionally in acting for over 10+ years! My dream work is to act in Christian Films, Action Films, Historical Films, and True Story Films.
I am currently a BSA Chaplain/Assistant Scout Master in North Florida BSA. As a Chaplain, I teach several Christian courses for BSA Scouts and I have earned prestigious awards; including (God and Service Award) and (Square Knot Award).
I played Professional Football for the (AFL)American Football League Washington Generals, Eastern Seaboard League; (1972 – 1982) as a defensive back. I was recognized and honored for setting a league record of interceptions in one game that still stands. My coach was a strong Christian and allowed me to lead the team in prayers and Christian outreach.
I enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during the Vietnam War Era as an Aviation Computer Management Professional.
I attended Jacksonville University, Universal Personnel Airlines School, and Dale Carnegie Institute of Technology studying Computer Management Classes, and Acting Classes. I got a job in 1982 at BCBSFL, as a Certified Professional Manager and worked there until his retirement in 2007, and then with J.P. Morgan Chase until 2012 as Vice President over Business Analytics Area, and now I am currently continuing full time as an Actor/Life Style Model. Since my retirement, I have put 100% into acting.
I have been blessed in many ways and I give God full credit for all the great blessings that God has given me and I am a very proud Christian. – Motto – “Don’t Let Life Get the Best Out of You, (YOU) get the Best Out of Life!” – Favorite Bible Verse – John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
False promises on Film Projects. Lack of funding for Film Projects. Worked on Film Projects, and never received a paycheck. Covid.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I feel that I was friendly and supportive to family, friends, and acquaintances. I was always a type “A” person. Always busy, keeping busy, and wanting to learn more.
